Chuck Norris’ unapologetic political views that made him a Hollywood outsider

Chuck Norris, a famous actor, surprised many by switching from the Democratic party – traditionally popular in Hollywood – to become a strong conservative. He publicly supported Republican candidates and even went skydiving with President George H.W. Bush.

Norris, who recently passed away, was a deeply religious man and openly shared his beliefs. He often wrote for a conservative website, famously stating that the foundation of the United States was built on faith in God and the right to bear arms.

Norris famously stated that he thought the Democratic party had become disconnected from traditional American values and had gone too far from its original principles.

He explained that he used to identify as a Democrat, but felt the party had become too liberal. He also noted that the Republican party now holds positions similar to those Democrats held four decades ago.

What Democrats used to stand for, Republicans now support. That’s why I decided to align with the Republican party – the Democrats have drifted too far from my values.

‘It just got completely off the trail and lost all reality of what America stood for.’

Chuck Norris, who writes a weekly column for the conservative website WorldNetDaily, has shared that he was friends with Presidents Ronald Reagan and George H.W. Bush.

Norris spoke highly of Ronald Reagan, calling him both a good person and a strong leader for the United States. He also collaborated with Reagan’s Vice President on several charitable projects.

Over the next few decades, my wife Gena, first lady Barbara, and I enjoyed many wonderful memories with President Bush, helped by the fact that they lived just an hour away in Texas, he shared.

They had a real connection, and President Bush even invited Norris to go skydiving to celebrate his 80th birthday.

‘We jumped in tandem with members of the U.S. Army Parachute team, the Golden Knights,’ he wrote. 

He has previously voiced support for actions taken by Texas Governor Greg Abbott and Senator Ted Cruz, both Republicans.

He has also supported Benjamin Netanyahu, the conservative Prime Minister of Israel, in previous elections.

During the 2012 Republican primary race, he supported Newt Gingrich, just as fellow Texan Rick Perry had done previously.

Perry served as Trump’s Energy Secretary during the President’s first term.

Back in 2008, Donald Trump helped raise the profile of Mike Huckabee, who was then running for president and is now the U.S. ambassador to Israel.

Norris starred in a video entitled ‘HuckChuckFacts,’ which boasts 1.8 million views on YouTube.

‘My plan to secure the border: two words – Chuck Norris,’ Huckabee said.

Norris came on stage and highlighted Huckabee’s strong support for gun rights, mentioning that Huckabee had been a hunter his whole life.

‘There’s no chin behind Chuck Norris’ beard, only another fist,’ Huckabee said.

Norris again endorsed Huckabee when he ran for President during the 2016 cycle.

Norris publicly supported Donald Trump, backing him in the 2016 election and again during his campaigns for president in 2020 and 2024.

On Friday, Trump broke his silence on the death of ‘tough cookie’ Norris at age 86. 

Trump described him as a strong and formidable person, saying, ‘We didn’t want to fight him,’ during a press briefing at the White House.

‘And he was a great supporter. Wow, that’s too bad,’ he said in reaction to the news of his death.

The legendary actor passed away on Thursday morning following a sudden medical emergency in Hawaii.
