Following the cancellation of the Buffy the Vampire Slayer reboot, Sarah Michelle Gellar shared some interesting news: a fellow actor from her movie Ready or Not 2: Here I Come was originally cast in the new series. She revealed this information during an interview on BBC Radio 2.
I was listening to Scott Mills, and he mentioned something really cool! Apparently, Kathryn Newton was originally going to be a guest star on the new show. It was kind of a slip-up, but now everyone knows!
She hinted at a big secret about the Buffy reboot: a well-known actress was originally planned to be in it, read the script, and might even be nearby right now, but couldn’t participate at the time.

I was totally blown away when Gellar and Newton told Mills it was a true story! Gellar even said it was an exclusive – they’d never confirmed it before, which is incredible!
I heard she was originally cast for the very first episode, the pilot, but the timing just didn’t line up. They were planning to bring her in later in the season, though! It’s a shame it didn’t work out initially, but I was still hoping to see her on the show at some point.

Last weekend, Joss Whedon stated that the planned new Buffy series wouldn’t move forward, even though it was going to be directed by the acclaimed filmmaker Chloé Zhao.
In a video posted to Instagram, the creator announced that Hulu won’t be continuing with the Buffy: New Sunnydale project.
I’m so grateful to Chloe Zhao for bringing back such wonderful memories – it felt like stepping back into Buffy’s shoes! She reminded me how much I adore her, and how important she is to me and to all of you. This situation doesn’t change any of that. And I promise, if things really go south, you can still reach out to me.
She told People magazine that they had a guest on their show who openly disliked the original series. He even made a point of repeatedly saying he’d never watched it and didn’t think it was something he’d enjoy.
It was incredibly challenging to revisit a show as cherished as Buffy, especially for both me and Chloé. From the start, we faced an uphill battle, made even harder by the fact that one of our executives openly admitted to never having watched the original series.
The new horror film, Ready or Not 2: Here I Come, is currently playing in theaters and has received a 74% rating on Rotten Tomatoes. According to Digital Spy, it’s Sarah Michelle Gellar’s strongest movie performance in over two decades.
You can now see “Ready or Not 2: Here I Come” in movie theaters. For fans in the UK, “Buffy The Vampire Slayer” is available to stream on Disney+ and ITVX, while viewers in the US can find it on Hulu.
The latest issue of Living Legends, a vibrant 100-page tribute to Harry Styles, is now available! You can purchase it at newsstands or online.
