I was so excited to see photos of Tom Fletcher at the Olivier Awards nominees tea party! He surprised everyone with a brand new moustache – he really rocked it at the event, which was held at The Londoner Hotel on Friday. It was such a glamorous afternoon!
Oh my gosh, did you see Harry Judd?! He totally switched up his look, and honestly, it reminded me SO much of what Leonardo DiCaprio did at the Oscars last week! It’s like he’s taking style cues from a LEGEND. I’m obsessed with this new vibe!
Tom looked very stylish in a red velvet blazer, worn over a pink and black shirt.
The Olivier Awards will be back at the Royal Albert Hall on April 12, 2026, to celebrate its 50th anniversary.
Oh my goodness, you guys, the nominations for the biggest London theatre awards are OUT, and I’m losing it! Paddington: The Musical and Into The Woods are totally dominating with ELEVEN nominations each! Eleven! I knew they were amazing, but this is just incredible. I’m already planning my outfit for the awards show, just in case… you know, for moral support. Seriously, I’m SO excited!
Tom wrote the songs and words for Paddington: The Musical, and it’s been getting fantastic reviews since it premiered last year.
Paddington has received nominations for four Olivier Awards, including best new musical, best director (Luke Sheppard), best choreography (Ellen Kane), and best actor in a musical.
Initial reviews of the product were very positive. Patrick Marmion from The Daily Mail called it incredibly cute and awarded it a perfect five-star rating.
He described it as a truly magnificent show, a real standout – something the late astronomer Patrick Moore would have appreciated. Or, in modern slang, it’s simply fantastic – a must-see, like the new Paddington musical!
Oh my goodness, you guys, this Paddington show is EVERYTHING! It’s based on the books I grew up with, and it feels exactly like the movies with Hugh Bonneville and Nicole Kidman – it’s just magical. Seriously, I have a feeling this isn’t going anywhere anytime soon. It’s already a huge hit, and I think it’s going to be the biggest show in the West End for ages! I’m already planning my fifth visit!
The Telegraph also gave the film a glowing four-star review, describing it as a hilarious and heartwarming hit with staying power.
The play’s main critic, Dominic Cavendish, said the bear character is sure to delight children and appeal to adults with its heartwarming and gentle nature.
He added that the new theatre show was ‘a very welcome addition to the British musical family.’
The Guardian loved it too, giving it a five-star review and calling the performance ‘flawless’.
I was absolutely blown away by the show! Our critic, Arifa Akbar, really hit the nail on the head – the animatronics were incredible, the staging was so creative, and the performances were fantastic. Plus, the songs – especially the ones about marmalade! – were just delightful. It truly was a joyful and heartwarming evening, and I can’t recommend it enough.
She added in her review that she show will ‘likely bring in tourists in their hordes’.
The Independent also awarded it five stars, describing the show as a wonderfully unusual adaptation that brilliantly brings this famous story to life on stage.
Reviewer Alice Saville highlighted that while the incredibly lifelike bear is a major attraction, the production as a whole is full of heart, quirky charm, and impressive scope, extending far beyond just its appealing main character.
The Stage gave it four stars, branding the show ‘sweeter than a marmalade sandwich.’
A critic praised the new musical based on Paddington Bear, calling its playful scenes with bears ‘irresistible’ and a definite success.
Variety also gave it high praise in their review saying the production had a ‘beguiling charm’.
Reviewers especially liked Tom’s songs and lyrics, noting that his funny numbers were clever and, thanks to the talented performers, consistently got big laughs from the audience.
Meanwhile, Time Out gave it four stars, even predicting it could run into a second musical.
You know, when maximalism really hits the mark, it’s magic. And honestly, the first ‘Paddington’ movie wasn’t perfect – it had some flaws. But that’s okay! I think the team should let it breathe for a few years, then jump right into ‘Paddington 2 the Musical.’ They clearly know what they’re doing, and a little time to develop it could be fantastic.
