Leonardo DiCaprio and Jennifer Lawrence’s new mystery thriller gets first look

Jennifer Lawrence and Leonardo DiCaprio, who previously starred together in Don’t Look Up, are working together again on a new movie directed by Martin Scorsese. Filming for What Happens at Night has just started in the Czech Republic.

This Apple film is a suspenseful thriller about an American couple who journey to a quiet, snow-covered European town to adopt a child, believing it will help them repair their troubled marriage.

When the woman gets sick, her husband becomes increasingly fearful that it will jeopardize their adoption. At the same time, the people in town begin acting oddly…

A new photo from the movie features the two actors standing by their car in the snow. DiCaprio has a noticeable mustache, and Lawrence looks convincingly cold.

The costumes suggest this movie will also be set in the past, mirroring the chilling gothic horror of Peter Cameron’s popular 2021 novel, which inspired the film.

What to Read Next

It’s curious that the original story doesn’t give the husband and wife characters names, which creates a sense of distance. Will the movie follow suit and also leave their names unknown?

While the full details are still upcoming, Jared Harris, Mads Mikkelsen, Patricia Clarkson, and Welker White are confirmed to be part of the cast.

During a recent conversation with Variety, Leonardo DiCaprio shared with Jennifer Lawrence what it’s like to work with the acclaimed director for the first time.

He warned her that she’d likely receive many movie recommendations, often sent as DVDs. He advised her to get a DVD player if she didn’t already have one.

He often shows snippets of films, sometimes just a single scene, to illustrate what he’s looking for. He might even screen an entire movie if he wants to highlight a specific moment’s feel or rhythm. We’ve even watched Japanese horror films to get a sense of the right atmosphere. It’s going to be a really great experience.
