I’m Convinced ‘Spider-Man: Brand New Day’ Will Feature the Debut Of My Favorite X-Men Hero In the MCU

There’s growing evidence suggesting that Sadie Sink, known for her role in Stranger Things, will play a popular X-Men character in the upcoming Spider-Man: Brand New Day movie and the start of Phase 7 of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Many fans are speculating about her role, but the most popular theory is that she’ll be playing Jean Grey, a powerful telepath and iconic X-Men hero who is known for her connection to the Phoenix Force.

The next Spider-Man movie will include the Department of Damage Control (DODC), with Tramell Tillman playing a key character who is pursuing a super-powered individual played by actress Sadie Sink. Given reports that the DODC will be going after mutants in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, many believe Sink’s character might actually be a mutant.

Viewers of the Marvel Cinematic Universe recently watched the Department of Damage Control pursue Simon Williams, played by Yahya Abdul-Mateen II, in the Disney+ series Wonder Man. Although the show doesn’t explain where his unique powers come from, Marvel Studios initially thought about making Wonder Man a mutant before plans for a reboot of the X-Men franchise were finalized.

Beyond her appearance, there’s growing speculation that actress Anya Taylor-Joy might be playing Jean Grey in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. A reliable source, Daniel Richtman, has reported that a new character being introduced will possess mind-control abilities, and Jean Grey is famously one of Marvel’s strongest telepaths.

A scooper named MyTimeToShineHello also reported that Sink will be wearing green and yellow in Brand New Day. Interestingly, those are the same colors Grey has famously worn in comics and animated series for years.

Just four months before Tate Sink was confirmed to be in the 2026 Spider-Man movie, reporter Jeff Sneider said Marvel Studios was interested in having the Stranger Things star play the X-Men character Jean Grey. The timing of these reports seems more than just a coincidence and strengthens the idea that Sink will take on the role.

If the reports are correct, Sink will become the third prominent actress to portray the character in the history of X-Men films, following Sophie Turner and Famke Janssen.

Sadie Sink Might Have a Huge MCU Future

Although Marvel hasn’t confirmed Sadie Sink’s involvement, reports suggest she’ll be returning to her role from Brand New Day in the upcoming Avengers: Secret Wars movie. Given that Secret Wars is expected to kick off a fresh start for the Marvel Cinematic Universe – including a reboot of the X-Men franchise – it makes sense that her character, a mutant with telepathic abilities, could be included.

As a huge Marvel fan, I’m already excited about how they’ll bring the X-Men to life in Phase 7. And honestly, Sadie Sink feels like a perfect fit. After watching her in Stranger Things, it’s clear she’s a real star and has the acting chops to lead a blockbuster like that.

I’m really hoping David Harbour lands the role of Professor X! Along with whoever they choose to play Cyclops, he could become one of the main faces of the X-Men when Marvel finally brings them into the MCU. If he gets a big role, I could totally see him being a major player in the MCU for years to come, maybe even starring in a new version of the Dark Phoenix story someday. That would be amazing!
