Plus, they added a huge sci-fi movie from 2009 that basically relaunched the whole series – a total classic.

Digital Spy has compiled a list of five must-watch shows, plus a few extra recommendations. You can find the full list below.

I recently watched Django Unchained, the 2012 Tarantino flick, and honestly, it lived up to the hype. I saw a review on Loud and Clear Reviews that called it one of Tarantino’s best movies ever, and I’d have to agree!

The film, starring Jamie Foxx, is a Western that reimagines history. It centers on a man escaping slavery who partners with a German bounty hunter (Christoph Waltz, in an Oscar-winning role) to rescue his wife. She’s held captive on the plantation of the cruel Calvin Candie, played by Leonardo DiCaprio.

The cast of Django Unchained includes Kerry Washington from Scandal, Samuel L. Jackson of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, and Walton Goggins, known for his role in The White Lotus.

Here’s what’s new on Prime Video this week: Robin Hood (2010), About Time, Saw, American Pie, Let the Right One In, Scarface, Anchorman, and Collateral.

Best movie new to BBC iPlayer this week

I absolutely loved The Martian! It’s based on a book by Andy Weir – the same guy who wrote Project Hail Mary, which is also fantastic. The movie is about this astronaut who gets left behind on Mars when everyone thinks he’s gone, and it’s a really gripping story of how he fights to survive while NASA races against time to rescue him.

Matt Damon leads the cast, joined by Academy Award winner Jessica Chastain, Chiwetel Ejiofor and Benedict Wong from Doctor Strange, Kristen Wiig of Bridesmaids, and Jeff Daniels, known for The Newsroom.

This science fiction film is directed by the acclaimed Ridley Scott, and was praised by Battleship Pretension as a perfect example of why people love going to the movies.

Okay, so I checked out what’s new on BBC iPlayer this week, and there’s a pretty good mix of stuff! They’ve added Mrs Brown, which is always good for a laugh, plus Alan Partridge: Alpha Papa for some classic British comedy. If you’re in the mood for a superhero movie, Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse is there. And for something a bit different, they’ve got the drama Far from the Madding Crowd (the 2015 version) and the film American Fiction. Definitely something for everyone!

The 2009 film Star Trek successfully brought the beloved science fiction series back to life, and was directed by J.J. Abrams.
