The new Peaky Blinders movie, The Immortal Man, is now available on Netflix, continuing the story of Tommy Shelby and the popular series after a four-year break.

Director Tom Harper faced a challenge adapting Peaky Blinders for film, as the show is known for its authentic and realistic settings.

Filming for the movie happened at several important places around the UK, and the team was even able to shoot in a particularly significant city.

Fans excited to revisit the world of Peaky Blinders will be happy to learn the filming locations for Peaky Blinders: The Immortal Man have been released, offering a chance to explore the settings of Tommy Shelby’s story.

The movie opens with a bombing scene at a factory in Small Heath, Birmingham. Filming took place at an old Burton’s factory in Leeds, which was ideal because its height and size allowed for impressive aerial footage using drones.

The film crew for a scene requiring a large, secure location chose Liverpool’s Warehouse 47 on the docks. There, actor Tim Roth, playing John Beckett, and a group of actors portraying SS guards, filmed a sequence involving £350 million in fake money. Location manager Richard Hill had a difficult time finding a space that could accommodate all the scene’s requirements.

It’s always tough to find the perfect location – especially when you need a combination of things like a river and a warehouse. For this project, we ended up filming inside a warehouse in St Helens and by the waterway at ABP Goole. We discovered a spot where we could film undisturbed for two nights, including some complex scenes.

While the show ‘Peaky Blinders’ is set in Birmingham, it hadn’t been filmed there until the movie. For the film, the production team was finally able to use Birmingham as a location, building the interior of The Garrison pub at Digbeth Loc Studios in the city.

Director Harper shared his fondness for The Garrison pub, noting its gradual and natural development over time.

The location is lovely and holds a lot of personal significance, filled with cherished memories. It was great to see filming return to Digbeth, though the pub’s exterior shots were actually filmed in Castlefield, Manchester.

Little Germany in Bradford turned out to be the ideal filming location. Its broad, historic streets were a perfect match for portraying Birmingham after the bombings of World War II.

Hill noted the streets had a good layout, and they wanted something they could manage, as the area had been damaged by bombs.

This involved covering the streets with a lot of debris. Fortunately, with support from the Bradford Film Office and the residents, we were able to close the streets to traffic for a full seven days.

The movie was filmed once again at the Black Country Living Museum, which served as the set for Charlie Strong’s Yard.

The show Peaky Blinders: The Immortal Man filmed at Calke Abbey, a historic stately home in Derbyshire. The location was transformed to represent a country house during wartime, serving as the setting for Tommy Shelby’s secluded retreat.

Caroline Taylor, the visitor operations manager at the abbey, shared with BBC News how excited they are to have the film shot there, saying it’s a wonderful opportunity to showcase the beautiful building and grounds to a wider audience.
