Natasha Lyonne gives update on her sobriety… two months after confirming relapse

Natasha Lyonne has shared that she’s been doing better for the last couple of months after experiencing a setback in her recovery from substance abuse.

The 46-year-old actress announced on X (formerly Twitter) that the child is recovering well and is now able to stand on her own again.

Following her public discussion of a recent relapse in January, the New York City resident expressed gratitude to both the recovery community and her fans for their unwavering support.

Lady Gaga shared that she wants to keep most of her current experience private, but she hopes to share what she learns and finds inspiring when the time is right.

She concluded her message in saying, ‘My heart is with everyone ever going through it.’

I was really saddened to see the news about Jason Biggs sharing that he’s experiencing a relapse. He posted on social media yesterday, letting everyone know he’s struggling and will be sharing more about his journey soon. It takes a lot of courage to be so open, and I truly admire him for prioritizing his well-being and being honest with his fans. It’s a reminder that recovery isn’t always linear, and seeking support is a sign of strength.

The actress, known for her roles in shows like Russian Doll and Orange Is the New Black, later shared that healing takes a lifetime. She encouraged anyone facing difficulties to remember they aren’t by themselves.

Okay, seriously, Lyonne just gets me. “Grateful for love & smart feet”? Is she reading my mind?! It’s like she knows I’m constantly dancing through life, trying to keep it together. And she’s doing it all for Baby Bambo – honestly, a queen! She always says to stay true to yourself, and that we’re all a little messed up, but that’s okay. It’s like, our flaws are what connect us. And the sweetest part? She just straight-up tells everyone she loves them. Like, if you needed a little boost today, she’s your person. I just… I feel so seen by her, you know?

‘No matter how far down the scales we have gone, we will see how our experience may help another.’

I absolutely loved what she shared with us recently! She told us to just keep pushing forward, to not give up right before something amazing happens. She wants us to fill our heads with positivity and kindness, and honestly, she says rest is overrated – just keep going! It really resonated with me and I think it’s a beautiful message.

After a fan praised her honesty, Lyonne responded by saying that we need to improve our systems and stop shaming people. She suggested holding the Sacklers accountable – perhaps through fines or other means – but asked not to be criticized for speaking frankly.

Many of Lyonne’s fans shared messages of support for her on Thursday as she continues to get better.

One person wrote to Natasha, wishing her well and saying that her commitment to staying sober is most importantly for her own well-being, but it also positively impacts everyone who cares about her.

Someone else shared their support, saying they’re sending good wishes. They mentioned a loved one had a relapse after eleven years of recovery, but that hasn’t changed how they feel about them.

We adapt, recover, and keep moving forward. Wishing you all the best on your path – don’t give up!

Someone reassured Lyonne that everyone experiences occasional setbacks – whether in recovery or just in life – because being human means making mistakes and facing challenges.

‘Thank you for the courage & generosity of sharing private info to support others.’

In a 2012 interview with Entertainment Weekly, Lyonne admitted she felt uncomfortable discussing her sobriety.

Lyonne described feeling like she had almost died during her struggles with addiction, explaining that many people in similar situations don’t recover.

She added, ‘That makes me feel wary, and self-conscious. I wouldn’t want to feel prideful about it.

‘People really rallied around me and pulled me up by my f***ing bootstraps.’
