Gabriel Byrne, 75, greatest actor to never be nominated for an Oscar makes rare outing in NYC, see him now

Gabriel Byrne, widely regarded as one of the best actors never to be nominated for an Oscar, was recently spotted out and about.

The 75-year-old actor enjoyed a solo outing in New York City on Thursday.

He bundled up for the chilly day in the Big Apple in a large blue coat zipped up all of the way.

Byrne completed his outfit with navy blue trousers and black Salomon sneakers as he walked around.

The talented actor accessorized with a burgundy knit beanie and a backpack while out in Manhattan.

Many people would be surprised to learn that Byrne, a truly exceptional actor, has never received an Academy Award nomination.

I always thought his performance as Keaton in ‘The Usual Suspects’ was his strongest work, and honestly, I believed that was his best shot at an Oscar nomination. It really stood out to me, and I was convinced it would get him recognized!

The movie boasted a talented ensemble cast, featuring well-known actors like Benicio Del Toro, Kevin Spacey, Kevin Pollak, Chazz Palminteri, Giancarlo Esposito, Stephen Baldwin, and Suzy Amis.

The story follows the only person who lived through a gun battle, as they recount how a famous criminal set in motion a chain of events that started when five criminals unexpectedly found themselves together in a police lineup.

The film, directed by Bryan Singer, won two Academy Awards: Kevin Spacey for Best Supporting Actor and Christopher McQuarrie for Best Original Screenplay.

I’ll never forget seeing him in ‘Miller’s Crossing’ back in 1990. It was one of the first films from the Coen brothers – Ethan and Joel – and it really showcased their unique style, even then. It’s a movie I still revisit!

Gabriel Byrne starred as Tom Reagan, a key advisor to a powerful crime boss during Prohibition. Reagan attempts to mediate a truce between rival gangs, but finds himself torn between conflicting allegiances.

John Turturro, Marcia Gay Harden, Albert Finney, and Jon Polito also starred in the flick.

Emmett Byrne was a producer for the 1993 film In the Name of the Father, a true-crime drama that received seven Academy Award nominations.

Throughout his career, the Irish actor has appeared in a variety of films, including ‘Defence of the Realm’ (1986), ‘Lionheart’ (1987), ‘Little Women’ (1994), ‘Dead Man’ (1995), ‘The Man in the Iron Mask’ (1998), ‘Enemy of the State’ (1998), ‘End of Days’ (1999), ‘Stigmata’ (1999), ‘Vanity Fair’ (2004), ‘The 33’ (2015), and ‘Hereditary’ (2018).

He recently worked on Ballerina, a John Wick spin-off film starring Ana de Armas, which came out last year.

Although he hasn’t been nominated for an Academy Award, he’s been recognized for his television work, receiving two Primetime Emmy nominations for his leading role in the HBO series In Treatment (2008–2011).

She’s also appeared in popular TV shows like Vikings (2013), Maniac (2018), and War of the Worlds (2019–2022).

David Byrne is a skilled stage actor, having been nominated for the Tony Award for Best Actor in a Play twice. He received nominations for his performances in A Moon for the Misbegotten (2000) and Long Day’s Journey into the Night (2016).

In 2017, at the age of 67, Byrne had a child with his wife, Hannah Beth King, making him a father for the third time.

The two had married in a low-key ceremony at Ballymaloe House in Cork in the summer of 2014.

Gabriel and actress Ellen Barkin were married, but they divorced in 1999 in a friendly manner. They share two children: Jack, who is 36, and Romy, who is 33.
