Christina Aguilera outrages fans after embarrassing blunder at Mexican concert: ‘Worst show ever!’

Christina Aguilera is facing criticism from her fans after performing a single concert in Mexico City this week.

The 45-year-old singer performed at the Palacio de los Deportes in Mexico City on Tuesday, but accidentally called the city ‘New Mexico’ while on stage, causing an embarrassing mistake.

She told the crowd ‘I love you so much New Mexico!’—a slip of the tongue, as she meant to say the country, not the US state.

Many fans were upset that the concert only lasted 55 minutes, as they believed it had been promoted as a two-hour performance.

Many people complained about the concert’s start time and reported that Christina Aguilera was late to the stage. Others criticized the simple stage setup, which mainly featured plastic coverings over the equipment – likely because of the rain.

Fans quickly took to social media to share their disappointment, with one attendee writing, ‘It was the worst show I’ve ever seen. I used to like her, but she clearly didn’t put much effort into the performance for Mexico.’

One fan joked on X (formerly Twitter) about Christina Aguilera’s recent Mexico City concert, saying she arrived an hour late, mistakenly called the city ‘New Mexico,’ and performed for only 55 minutes. The fan concluded with a playful statement of unwavering support, saying no one could ever make them dislike her.

One viewer complained the show was very short, barely lasting an hour even with breaks. The performer was more than an hour late, and the actual show was only 55 minutes long. Several songs were cut short, the stage setup was unimpressive, and the lighting was poor. To top it off, she mistakenly referred to New Mexico instead of Mexico.

Some fans were also disappointed by the lack of hits in Aguilera’s setlist, with the diva skipping over some of her most notable chart-toppers, including Candyman and Come On Over.

Christina Aguilera’s Instagram is receiving a lot of angry comments from Mexican fans, many of which are written in Spanish.

Despite the criticism, some fans defended the artist, with one noting that she had clearly said ‘Mexico’ several times before the problematic part.

Someone else pointed out that she’s been performing constantly, every single day, and is likely exhausted. They felt a minor slip-up wasn’t worth criticizing and suggested she might not even return to Mexico, implying some people are unappreciative of her efforts.

I’ve been hearing from a lot of concertgoers about Christina Aguilera’s recent shows, and it seems many have been lasting around an hour. There’s a possibility the concert in Mexico City was accidentally promoted as being two hours long – it sounds like that might have been a local advertising error and not something Christina was aware of.

One fan said the show in Oklahoma, though only an hour long, was amazing. They believe she’s one of the best performers ever and that her fans are fortunate to have seen her perform.

Daily Mail has contacted Aguilera’s management for comment.

Oh my gosh, Christina’s been everywhere lately! I seriously can’t keep up! Just days before she graced us with a concert in Mexico, she was the headliner at the Sips & Sounds Music Festival in Austin, Texas – it was amazing, I wish I could have been there!

She’s performing in Costa Rica this weekend and will follow that up with a concert in Abu Dhabi in April.

Besides performing, Christina Aguilera has hinted she’s creating new music and filming a documentary about her recent return to the spotlight.

She marked the 25th anniversary of her Christmas album, ‘My Kind of Christmas,’ with a performance in Paris in December.

Christina Aguilera’s Christmas in Paris was both a televised holiday special and a live album release.
