As a huge fan of martial arts films, I can tell you Twilight of the Warriors: Walled In was absolutely worth the wait! It wasn’t just a personal favorite, either – it was a massive hit in Hong Kong and critics loved it. The film really cleaned up at awards shows too, snagging a Stunt Award at the Satellite Awards and dominating the Hong Kong Film Awards last year with wins for Best Film, Best Director, Editing, Cinematography, Action Choreography, and a bunch of other categories. Seriously, it was a fantastic showing!
Sal Cento from MovieWeb highly recommends Twilight of the Warriors: Walled In, calling it a fun action movie that also offers historical insights. He particularly praised the fight choreography by Kenji Tanigaki, noting how it cleverly reveals character depth and utilizes the unique setting of the walled city. Cento expressed eagerness for a future installment set in Kowloon.
