A fantastic action series that doesn’t get enough attention is coming back next month, and the new trailer shows it’s still incredibly intense. The show delivers powerful action and drama – more impactful than many others – and tells a compelling story of revenge. It follows two determined boxers who are forced to fight outside the ring when gangsters threaten their families. Having dealt with that threat, they’re now facing an even more dangerous enemy.
Released on Netflix in 2023, Season 1 blends the underdog spirit of Rocky with the vigilante justice of Reacher. The show features Woo Do-hwan (The King: Eternal Monarch) as Kim Geon-woo, a promising boxer and ex-Marine, and Lee Sang-yi (Hometown Cha-Cha-Cha) as Hong Woo-jin, his fellow Marine and a skilled fighter. Like Rocky Balboa, they’re both incredibly tough, and like Jack Reacher, they’re driven to protect those who can’t protect themselves, taking on dangerous criminals who target the vulnerable.
Get ready for more action! Season 2 of Bloodhounds arrives on Netflix in April. The new season, directed by Kim Joo-hwan and based on the popular Naver webtoon by Jeong Chan, brings back Woo Do-hwan and Lee Sang-yi as Kim Gun-woo and Hong Woo-jin. Joining them is Jung Ji-hoon (known as “Rain”), who plays a ruthless new villain—a formidable opponent both in and out of the ring.
As a huge action movie fan, I’m honestly baffled that Bloodhounds hasn’t blown up yet. It’s got amazing scores – critics loved it, and audiences really loved it – but Netflix’s algorithm seems to be hiding it from everyone. The two young leads are incredibly charismatic and seriously skilled in the fight scenes – they could easily become major action stars. What I especially loved is that the show actually centers around boxing, which is a refreshing change of pace. Honestly, Bloodhounds deserves to be one of Netflix’s biggest hits!
