Animula Nook Preview: A Cozy Adventure In A Miniature World

I recently had a chance to play Animula Nook, and I’m seriously thrilled about it! It’s a really cozy game about going on big adventures in tiny little spaces. It’s made by LilliLandia Games, a small indie team backed by Tencent Games, and it feels like the perfect way to unwind and escape from everyday stress.

Animula Nook lets you experience a world where everything is oversized! The game transforms your everyday surroundings into a huge, explorable landscape right on your computer. You can build and decorate comfortable spaces, towns, and scenery, personalize your character and the people within the game, and enjoy activities like playing, collecting resources, crafting items, and discovering new things.

Even after just a little bit of playtime, I’m definitely interested in seeing where Animula Nook goes – it’s a game to watch.

Animula Nook Is A Big Adventure In A Miniature World

It’s All About The Details

I had a chance to try out the early alpha version of Animula Nook. The developers are really focused on making sure the basic gameplay is solid and fun, and they’re doing a lot of testing right now. Despite being so early in development, the game world is already full of interesting things to find and explore.

The game’s charming title and overall feel were influenced by movies like Pixar’s Luca and the game It Takes Two, and that influence is clear. After creating your character, the game shrinks you down to the size of a doll, placing you right on top of your desk.

I could instantly grab everything and store it in my special backpack. What’s even cooler is that the game allows you to shrink large objects down to a miniature size—for example, a huge pencil case can become a tiny storage chest.

Everything feels carefully crafted, with everyday objects cleverly transformed into tiny furniture and decorations. You’ll find houses made from milk cartons and couches from glasses cases, among many other sweet details. The clothes are equally appealing, and there are already lots of choices to suit different tastes – with even more ways to customize coming soon.

I really enjoyed discovering every hidden corner of the world, soaring through the air with my fluffy, round companion Wupo, and skateboarding across the land – the little jump sound was especially satisfying! The world outside felt just as magical, and the beautiful graphics made even familiar things seem fresh and new.

There’s a lot more to discover in Animula Nook beyond what I’ve shown, including multiplayer, which will be a key feature when the game is finished. You can also play musical instruments, cook by exploring the world, and find hidden mini-games and activities. It’s looking like a charming adventure that cozy game fans are going to love.

Closed Alpha Starts Today

More Updates Are On The Way

I definitely found some issues during my time with the game – things like awkward conversations, a missing cutscene, and a few confusing design choices. However, it’s important to keep in mind that this is still an early alpha version and isn’t finished yet.

The first closed alpha test for Animula Nook is now live on PC via Steam. The developers are already working on improvements based on player feedback, with plans to adjust the game’s speed, how players interact with the world, cutscenes, the user interface, and other elements.
