Fans of Marvel believe the trailer for Spider-Man: Brand New Day hints at the character played by Sadie Sink. While Sink—known for her role in Stranger Things—is confirmed to be in the new Marvel movie, her specific role hasn’t been announced yet.
There’s been a lot of talk about her potentially playing Jean Grey from the X-Men, and the latest trailer might be a clue that it’s true.
Although she isn’t shown in the latest trailer, a scene featuring mind control hints that the character might be Jean.

One Reddit user praised actor Tramell Tillman, saying he’s doing a great job. They also believe the show is hinting that his character is searching for someone with hidden, superhuman abilities – specifically, a ‘mutant’ who appears normal but possesses powers. This user thinks Sadie’s character will be revealed to have mind control abilities.
One viewer noticed the trailer doesn’t show Sadie Sink’s face, but the figure strapped to a chair in the lab appears to be her. They also pointed out the scenes of mind control support the theory that her character might be connected to Jean Grey.

One fan speculated about a strange ‘mind-jumping’ ability they might introduce, suggesting Sadie Sink could play Jean Grey disguised as the Judas Traveller – a very unpopular Spider-Man villain. Since both characters are mutants, the fan thinks this could be the direction the story is heading.
Sink had previously spoken about the rumors, telling Entertainment Weekly that they started circulating before she even knew she’d be involved with the project. She said she was surprised when she first heard them, wondering, ‘What are people talking about?’

She acknowledged fans have noticed the matching hair colors, explaining that hair color isn’t permanent. While she understands the speculation, she said people will have to wait to find out what’s really going on, and she’s looking forward to resolving the mystery.
The trailer for Brand New Day primarily shows what happens after the events of No Way Home, where Peter Parker was forgotten by everyone he knew, including MJ (Zendaya) and Ned (Jacob Batalon). It also features glimpses of Mark Ruffalo as Bruce Banner and Jon Bernthal as the Punisher.
Spider-Man: Brand New Day is released in cinemas on 31 July.
