fans are about to get a brand-new prequel game while they wait for the follow-up to Cyberpunk 2077.
Night Crew Games is funding a new card game called Cyberpunk Legends: Into the Night through Kickstarter. This cooperative, story-focused game takes players back to the very beginning of Night City, offering a glimpse into its earliest days.
Cyberpunk Legends Visits Night City in the Past
Night Crew Games’ Cyberpunk Legends: Into the Night takes place in Night City, but much earlier in the story – back in 2012. You can play solo or with up to three friends, choosing between a story-driven campaign or a replayable deckbuilding experience.
The game’s description states that learning and setting up Cyberpunk Legends: Into the Night should only take about 15 minutes. The developers say they’ve thoroughly tested this, understanding that players often don’t have much time, especially if they enjoy lengthy games.
In Cyberpunk Legends: Into the Night, players select a character and build a deck of cards to tackle challenges. As they explore Night City, they’ll also uncover a hidden mystery.
Hey everyone, I’m super excited to share that the Kickstarter for Cyberpunk Legends: Into the Night is launching on September 23rd and running for a whole month! That gives us plenty of time to back it and grab some cool extras. They’re not just offering the base game, but also things like shiny foil cards, awesome playmats, card sleeves to protect my deck, and even unique designs for the Role cards. The coolest part? You can even get a one-on-one session to learn how to play directly from the developers at Night Crew Games! Seriously, this is going to be epic.
So, everyone’s really hyped for the next Cyberpunk game after Cyberpunk 2077, but it’s going to be a while. CD Projekt Red said they already have a solid team working on it, and they’re planning to add another 300-400 people to the crew by the end of 2027. That tells me it’s a big project and we shouldn’t expect it anytime soon, but it’s good to know they’re building a strong team!
Look, don’t hold your breath waiting for Cyberpunk 2. Seriously, I wouldn’t expect it before 2028, and that’s being optimistic. CD Projekt Red has made it pretty clear they’re pouring all their effort into The Witcher 4 right now, and from what I’ve heard, that game is going to be huge, so Cyberpunk 2 is definitely on the back burner.
Pawel Burza, a Senior Communications Manager at CD Projekt Red, recently described how the upcoming game will feel different from previous The Witcher titles. He explained that players will experience a new combat style with Ciri, who moves much more fluidly than Geralt. According to Burza, while Geralt is agile, he’s somewhat solid, whereas Ciri is like ‘liquid’ in comparison.
