Morgan Freeman is set to voice announcements at London Underground’s Baker Street station to celebrate 150 years of Warburtons

If you’re at Baker Street station in London on Wednesday or Thursday, you might hear Morgan Freeman’s famous voice making announcements.

The 88-year-old Hollywood actor, the newest celebrity to partner with Warburtons, will record fun, bakery-related announcements for passengers on the northbound Jubilee line platform.

Okay, so here’s a fun little change happening on the London Underground! Instead of the usual ‘mind the gap’ announcement, they’re testing something a bit more…delicious. For a limited time, passengers will hear me – or rather, a recording of my voice – asking them to ‘mind the bap’ and ‘stand behind the buttery yellow line.’ It’s all part of a campaign for a local bakery, and honestly, it’s a charming way to brighten your commute! Think of it as a little slice of happiness while you’re traveling.

The circular signs on the platform will be redesigned to look like large crumpets, and some signs will be playfully changed to read ‘Bakers Street’.

To celebrate 150 years in business, Warburtons has teamed up with Transport for London (TfL) to brighten the days of people across London.

Jonathan Warburton, Chairman of Warburtons, explained that the company has a typical Northern British sense of humor and they wanted to bring some of that cheer to London commuters, hoping to brighten their day.

We’re clearly fans of a good bread-related joke, so naming our shop Baker Street felt perfect. And having a voice as iconic as Morgan Freeman announce arrivals and departures? That’s a surefire way to make someone’s day unforgettable.

Morgan is the newest celebrity to star in a Warburtons commercial, following previous appearances by famous actors like Olivia Colman, Robert De Niro, and George Clooney.

The actor guides viewers through the delightful story of Warburtons, starting with their first loaf in 1876 and continuing to today. The story explores the family’s deep passion for baking and what makes their business so special.

Warburtons is well-known for its funny and memorable commercials, which often feature famous celebrities working alongside the company’s chairman to promote their bread.

They feature stars like Olivia, Samuel L. Jackson, Clooney, Sylvester Stallone, and Peter Kay.

I was absolutely captivated by Olivia’s recent role! She played this incredibly strict official – part of a made-up Department of National Treasures, no less – who pretended to investigate the bakery. It was all a clever ruse, you see, to cover up a huge crumpet heist planned for 2025! The episode, called ‘The Inspection,’ was brilliant.

A 2021 commercial featured George Clooney attempting to contact a bakery owner named Jonathan with a proposal. However, he caught Jonathan at a bad time – right in the middle of enjoying his toast!

George agreed to do the role with one requirement: a large payment would be made to the charity foundation he co-runs with his wife, Amal, who is a lawyer.

Morgan explained he was happy to narrate the advertisement because it tells the story of a family’s 150 years of commitment to baking – a story he believes is worth sharing.

As a lifestyle expert, I’ve always said you can taste tradition, and that’s absolutely true with this brand. Their recipes aren’t just made – they’re carried on through families, and that dedication to quality is what’s kept them a staple in homes for generations. It’s clear why people keep coming back – it’s simply good baking, made with love and experience.

I have to admit, I really enjoyed that crumpet – it had 300 holes! I told you Warburtons went a little overboard!
