Disney+ has ordered a third season of Paradise. The show, originally a Hulu drama that premiered in January 2025, has been both critically acclaimed and popular with viewers. It’s built a dedicated following, with fans watching over 30 million hours of the second season and almost 12 billion minutes total across the first two seasons worldwide.
I’m really excited about this new show! It’s from Dan Fogelman, the guy who created This Is Us, and it looks intense. It’s a political thriller starring Sterling K. Brown as Xavier Collins, a former Secret Service agent. The story is set in a world after some kind of disaster, and Xavier’s living with other survivors in a bunker in Colorado. But things get crazy when the President – who also happens to be Xavier’s friend, played by James Marsden – is murdered, and Xavier gets pulled into a huge conspiracy.
The first season of Paradise revolved around Xavier’s investigation into the President’s death. Now, in season two, the ex-Marine leaves the safety of the bunker to search for his wife, Teri (Enuka Okuma), whom he previously thought had died.

Season one currently has an 86% rating on Rotten Tomatoes. Season two is even more popular, with a 90% rating, and has been praised as “addictive” by Espinof and “cleverly plotted” by Empire Magazine.
Brown stars in and executive produces the series, leading a talented cast. Several actors – Okuma, Julianne Nicholson, Sarah Shahi, Nicole Brydon Bloom, James Marsden, Krys Marshall, Aliyah Mastin, Percy Daggs IV, and Charlie Evans – have been with the show since its start. For the second season, Shailene Woodley, Thomas Doherty, and Jon Beavers join the cast as new members.
What to Read Next
Although not much is known about the third season, actor Lonnie Chavis told Collider in January that the show’s creator, Dan Fogelman, intends for it to be the last. Chavis explained that Fogelman planned for both This Is Us and Paradise to have a specific number of seasons – six for This Is Us and three for Paradise – and he’s sticking to that plan.
This allows the show to develop a clear direction with each episode. We’re focused on meaningful progress, not just creating endless content. Every episode contributes to a larger story.

Viewers can feel that each episode really matters and contributes to a larger story. Unlike movies or plays where you know the whole story from the start, this show gradually reveals everything, which makes it really rewarding to watch the story unfold.
Even though the journey wasn’t always straightforward, I’m really happy with how things turned out. We started in one place and ended up somewhere completely different, and it feels like a satisfying, complete story. I’m genuinely excited about that.
You can watch seasons one and two of Paradise on Hulu and Disney+. We don’t have a release date for season three yet.
