Avengers: Doomsday’s Downer Ending Detailed in New Report

According to a new report, the upcoming movie Avengers: Doomsday will have an ending similar to that of Infinity War.

Infinity War is unique among Avengers films because the heroes actually lose – Thanos collects all six Infinity Stones and eliminates half of all life. But because Infinity War was just the first part of a two-movie finale, the Avengers returned in Endgame and ultimately defeated Thanos, reversing his devastating snap.

After the massive success and critical praise of Infinity War and Endgame, Marvel Studios is hoping to achieve the same results with their upcoming Avengers crossover event. Reports suggest they’re planning a similar storyline where the heroes initially suffer a defeat, allowing the villains to gain the upper hand – much like the ‘Doomsday’ scenario.

What reportedly happens at the end of Avengers: Doomsday?

A source on X, known as MAJESTIC_ucm, claims that everyone dies in the upcoming ‘Avengers: Doomsday’ film. According to them, characters like Reed Richards, Tobey Maguire, and Hugh Jackman do not survive. Only Doctor Doom remains alive, having gained power from Loki. The final battle, taking place in Latveria 828, results in the deaths of all heroes due to a collision between universes 616 and 10005.

Doctor Doom, harnessing Loki’s abilities, is building “Battleworld” – essentially an artificial planet assembled from pieces of countless universes. MAJESTIC_ucm clarified that the planet is divided into different regions, each one representing a fragment of another universe.

According to a recent post, the shocking ending will be resolved in Avengers: Secret Wars with Dr. Doom bringing back everyone who died in the Battle of Latveria, even characters from alternate universes. Dr. Strange also survives, having been protected by the Dark Dimension where normal time and space don’t apply. He then teams up with Dr. Doom, acknowledging that Doom has reshaped reality and is now considered a god.

According to reports, the upcoming Secret Wars storyline will involve Doctor Strange creating a plan to double-cross Doctor Doom. He intends to bring back the memories and personalities of heroes like Reed Richards, both versions of Spider-Man (Tobey Maguire and Tom Holland), Wolverine, and Captain America (Sam Wilson), hoping they’ll join forces to defeat Doom.

The next big team-up movies from Marvel are planned for release in December 2026 and December 2027. ‘Avengers: Doomsday’ will come out first, followed by ‘Avengers: Secret Wars’. Both films are part of Phase 6 of the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
