This former child star looked very different this week when in Austin, Texas.
She showcased a striking gothic style with long, dark hair and bold black eyeliner, while wearing a low-cut black lace dress featuring a high slit.
She was at the South By Southwest Festival for her the premiere of her new movie Forbidden Fruits.
This is a big departure from the fresh, wholesome image she had in her popular show, The Summer I Turned Pretty.
Honestly, I was completely shocked when I saw the recent photos! Everyone online is saying the same thing – it’s like she transformed overnight, going from a young girl to a glamorous woman. I scrolled through X and saw so many people saying they barely recognized her, and one person even compared her to Morticia from the Addams Family! It’s a wild change, and I’m still trying to process it.
Can you guess who this young star, who is now 23-years-old, is?
Lola Tung starred as Isabel ‘Belly’ Conklin in the popular teen romance, The Summer I Turned Pretty, which centers around a love triangle.
Her costars were Gavin Casalegno and Christopher Briney.
The series has ended after three seasons, but a movie version has been announced.
The actress, who has Chinese and Swedish heritage, is currently appearing in Forbidden Fruits alongside Lili Reinhart and Gabrielle Union.
The story follows Apple, who secretly leads a witch cult at the mall store where she works, along with her colleagues Cherry and Fig.
A new employee, Pumpkin, challenges the group’s bond, pushing them to face their hidden struggles or suffer deadly consequences.
In mid July Tung talked up The Summer I Turned Pretty while on The Tonight Show.
She discussed which hunky brother her character, charmer Isabel ‘Belly’ Conklin, will end up with.
The men who wanted her were Jeremiah, played by Casalegno, and Conrad, played by Briney.
Jimmy Fallon pointed out the dramatic ending of Season 2, emphasizing Belly’s choice of Jeremiah over Conrad, and then asked Tung for her reaction.
‘I’m all for her following her heart,’ the actress shared as she said she was ‘Team Belly.’
Oh my gosh, Belly was SO careful not to spoil anything, which is amazing! She just hinted that her character is totally authentic, doing whatever feels right in the moment, and just following her heart – always! It’s like, every decision is pure instinct, and I’m living for it! It’s so real and raw, you know?
Regarding Season 3, Tung explained that it continues the intense emotional ups and downs viewers expect. There’s also a time skip, so we see the characters having grown and matured when the season begins.
It was not a surprise who she ended up with as she had a crush on him her whole life.
