Ryan Gosling Recreates the La La Land Poster With a Hail Mary Twist

I’m still completely captivated by La La Land, and it’s amazing to see how much Ryan Gosling cherishes that film too! It’s so cool that, right as his new movie is coming out, he’s found a really creative way to celebrate the 10th anniversary. He actually designed a new poster that beautifully connects his role in La La Land with his current project – it’s a brilliant way to honor both films, and I heard it was something he’d been wanting to do for a while!

La La Land’s poster gets recreated by Ryan Gosling for tenth anniversary

A new poster featuring Ryan Gosling playfully references his hit movie La La Land. It recreates a famous image from the 2016 musical, but instead of dancing with Emma Stone under the Los Angeles skyline, Gosling is now pictured with Rocky, a character from his upcoming science fiction film, Project Hail Mary.

One of the fun things about seeing the new promotional materials was watching Ryan Gosling playfully tackle that iconic “La La Land” hand pose – you know, the one from the original poster. I saw a behind-the-scenes clip from the photoshoot where he was clearly determined to get it right, joking about needing a little help from a friend, Rocky. He was even asking the crew if his hand looked okay, clearly wanting to nail it! It was a sweet, self-aware moment and showed he’s in on the joke with all of us fans.

The movie shared a new poster on its official Instagram page, keeping the look of the first one. Instead of the famous line “Here’s to the fools who dream,” this version says, “Believe in the Hail Mary.” The post also mentioned the film’s music, quoting a line from the song “City of Stars”: “A city of stars shining just for them.”

Ryan Gosling recently told The Wall Street Journal Magazine that he’s still bothered by a photo from a past film. He explained that he purposefully went against the director’s instructions about how to position his hands, believing his own idea looked better. He now jokes about it, self-deprecatingly referring to himself as “Hamburger hands Gosling.”

You can still rent or buy La La Land online. And Project Hail Mary will be in movie theaters starting March 20th.
