TV icon Carol Smillie, 64, looks age-defying as she poses with her husband and son in rare family snaps

Carol Smillie shared an insight into her family holiday to Brooklyn on Instagram on Monday.

The 64-year-old TV presenter took a trip to America with her family: her husband, Alex Knight, their 28-year-old son, Robbie, and his girlfriend, Madeline te Riele.

Carol looked remarkably youthful, seemingly unchanged from her time on Changing Room, as she happily posed for selfies and shared photos of herself enjoying coffee and smoothies in Brooklyn.

She captioned the post: ‘Brooklyn Baby’.

I have to say, everyone’s been absolutely loving Carol’s husband! People keep commenting on how gorgeous her whole family is, and so many are saying her husband is incredibly handsome – it’s lovely to see!

‘Hubby as handsome as ever!’

The presenter married restauranter Alex in 1991.

They have three children, Robbie and daughters Jodie, 27, and Christie, 31.

Carol became well-known as a TV host in the 1990s and early 2000s. She first gained recognition helping Nicky Campbell on the British version of the game show Wheel of Fortune from 1989 to 1994.

She then hosted Changing Rooms from 1996 to 2003 among others.

Despite her previous role, Carol wasn’t asked to return when Changing Rooms was revived in 2021. Laurence Llewelyn-Bowen continued to host, but Anna Richardson took over Carol’s position.

In 2012, Carol left traditional television to start her own company, DiaryDoll, which sold leak-proof underwear for women. She stepped down from running the business in 2018.

Now known as Carol King, she’s switched careers and is working as a humanist celebrant.

After becoming a member of Humanist Society Scotland in 2018, she started leading weddings, naming ceremonies, and funerals in 2019.
