Many viewers and critics compare Virgin River to a comforting cup of hot cocoa. While it does have serious moments, and isn’t always predictable, the show is generally more relaxed and less dramatic than many popular TV series. It prioritizes a slower pace and gentle storytelling.
With shows like The Pitt delivering dark and intense stories, and popular Netflix series like Adolescence offering little in the way of lighthearted entertainment, the success of Virgin River probably stems from its cozy and comforting atmosphere. While the show’s approach isn’t groundbreaking, Virgin River‘s popularity shows that it doesn’t need to be.
