A lip-reader has revealed what Timothée Chalamet and Kylie Jenner appeared to say during their seemingly tense conversation at the Oscars, according to an exclusive report from the Daily Mail.
At 30, he was considered a top contender for Best Actor for his role in “Marty Supreme,” a film by Josh Safdie. The movie is based on the true story of a ping-pong player in 1950s New York City.
His tendency to come across as arrogant in interviews ultimately turned the public against him. The Daily Mail reported, with exclusive sources, that a movement to protest against him – dubbed ‘Stop Timmy’ – was gaining momentum before the Academy Awards.
Timothée Chalamet, coming from a family with a background in ballet – his mother and sister both trained in it – stirred up controversy by suggesting that opera and ballet aren’t widely popular or appreciated.
The Oscars were a tough night for Timothée Chalamet. He faced a lot of public ridicule for a comment he made and ultimately didn’t win Best Actor, with Michael B. Jordan taking home the award for his performance in ‘Sinners’.
A video has recently emerged showing Timothée Chalamet in the audience with a forced smile while talking to Kendall Jenner, according to E! News. However, a lip reader, Nicola Hickling, has shared what their conversation actually involved.
Despite maintaining a smile, Chalamet confessed, “I hate this.” Jenner responded with reassurance, saying, “We’re all right, okay?” and he simply agreed, “Yeah.”
Jenner, Chalamet’s girlfriend of three years, is also hoping for the best. He publicly thanked her in his acceptance speeches at both the Golden Globes and Critics Choice Awards.
‘Tonight – I need a big cuddle,’ said Chalamet.
Timothée Chalamet clearly showed his disappointment when Adrien Brody announced Jordan as the winner of the 2025 Best Actor award, rather than him.
He gave Jordan a polite clap and seemed to quietly cheer ‘yay’ as the surprised player went to hug his mother, Donna, before walking onto the stage.
The competition for Best Actor was especially strong this year, featuring impressive performances from Leonardo DiCaprio in “One Battle After Another,” Ethan Hawke in “Blue Moon,” and Wagner Moura in “The Secret Agent.”
Jordan, a first-time Oscar winner, became emotional during his acceptance speech, expressing his gratitude to both the audience and viewers at home for their support throughout his career. He simply stated, ‘I feel it,’ conveying his deep appreciation.
I appreciate all your support and I’m motivated to succeed, especially knowing you believe in me. Thank you for continuing to have faith.

Jordan stated he will continue to improve and strive to be his best self. The film ‘Sinners,’ directed by Ryan Coogler, also received the award for Best Screenplay.
Timothée Chalamet initially led the race for Best Actor, winning Golden Globe and Critics’ Choice awards for his role in Marty Supreme. However, Michael Jordan’s win at the Actor Awards earlier this month changed the dynamic.
As a huge fan, it felt like the Oscars were happening at a really awkward time. Timothée Chalamet had recently made some comments about opera and ballet – saying basically that people weren’t interested – and it caused a massive uproar. The whole arts world was upset, even someone as respected as Steven Spielberg spoke out about it. It definitely cast a shadow over everything.
Timothée Chalamet casually mentioned his concerns about the future of movie theaters while speaking with his Interstellar colleague, Matthew McConaughey.
In a conversation with Variety’s Actors on Actors, he explained he wasn’t interested in careers like ballet or opera – work where the focus is simply on maintaining something that’s lost its relevance or public interest.
Conan O’Brien hosted the Academy Awards for the second year in a row and began his opening remarks by making a joke about the recent controversy surrounding Timothée Chalamet.
I was there, and let me tell you, security was intense tonight. That’s all O’Brien, looking sharp in his tux, would say to the audience at the Dolby Theatre in LA.
He jokingly mentioned hearing worries about potential criticism from people involved with both opera and ballet.

The camera immediately focused on Timothée Chalamet, who was smiling nervously while standing next to his girlfriend, Kylie Jenner.
‘They’re just mad you left out jazz,’ O’Brien jokingly added.
Later that night, O’Brien attempted to smooth things over with Chalamet, telling the audience they were getting along well and ‘vibing.’ However, his efforts didn’t seem to fully repair the situation.
I was chatting with Timothée Chalamet the other night, and after saying something I thought was pretty on point, I asked him if we were connecting. Sadly, it seems the feeling wasn’t mutual! His response wasn’t caught on mic, but the interviewer quickly let us know – he wasn’t feeling the vibe, apparently.
People started playfully teasing Timothée Chalamet even before the awards show began. He walked the red carpet looking serious, and his girlfriend, Jenner, wasn’t with him.
Oh my gosh, did you see Timothée? He was just… perfect. He was wearing this amazing white suit, so crisp and clean, with a tie, and then… the sunglasses! Huge, black sunglasses. The contrast was just everything. It was such a look, and honestly, I can’t stop thinking about it. He just owns everything he wears, doesn’t he?
People on X, previously known as Twitter, strongly criticized the group’s outfits, with one user complaining that the person in question didn’t deserve an Oscar nomination because of how bad they looked.
Someone else playfully questioned what led to such an unusual look, and another commenter joked that the young actor resembled a milkman.
One person bluntly called his outfit a ‘disaster,’ while another jokingly suggested he could use some style advice from the Kardashians and Jenners, likely referencing his relationship with Kendall Jenner.
