KPop Demon Hunters fans are left furious as Golden writers are cut off mid-speech with lights dimmed and music drowning them out after making history with Oscars Best Song win

Fans of the KPop group featured in ‘Demon Hunters’ were upset when the songwriters for their Oscar-winning song, ‘Golden,’ were abruptly cut off while speaking after making history with the Best Original Song award.

Singer EJAE, age 34, happily accepted an award on stage, sharing the honor with her collaborators: Ido, Yu Han Lee, Hee Dong Nam, Mark Sonnenblick, Teddy, and 24.

Fans were upset when the writers’ acceptance speech was abruptly cut short – the music started playing and the lights dimmed – even though their song had just made history as the first K-pop track to win in that category.

EJAE became emotional during her speech, explaining that she used to be teased for enjoying KPop. Now, she’s thrilled that everyone is embracing the music, singing along to the Korean lyrics, and celebrating with her.

After expressing gratitude to her friends, family, and the film’s team, she paused and asked if she had forgotten anyone.

Lee walked up to the microphone to express his gratitude, but the celebratory music from the play-off game quickly overwhelmed his words, leaving everyone wondering who he was thanking.

People on Reddit expressed strong frustration with award shows that name multiple winners in a single category but don’t give everyone a chance to speak. Many found it illogical and irritating that not all winners were acknowledged with speaking time.

‘A class act moment, it was beyond disrespectful the way they got cut off,’;

Didn’t they already have a situation where someone’s microphone was cut off while they were giving their acceptance speech? You’d think they’d remember that. The Oscars moved along at a good pace this year, so they could easily give winners in less-publicized categories a bit more time to speak. If they need to save time, they should skip some of the planned jokes and celebrity conversations.

Winning the Original Song award is a significant achievement, particularly considering it was announced before the night’s main awards. Therefore, the decision to shorten their acceptance speech feels especially disrespectful, especially since last year, the producers allowed a less popular act to perform a song on stage instead of promptly ending the segment after accepting their award.

On X (formerly Twitter), many fans expressed anger, saying the Oscars abruptly cut off the K-pop songwriters during their acceptance speech in a way that seemed intentional and was quite shocking.

Interrupting someone before they’ve finished speaking is really extreme. It was particularly unfair to cut Yuhan off like that, especially since it was clear he’d prepared a speech representing the Korean production team.

It was really rude to interrupt them. Why would anyone talk over the thank-you speech of the people presenting after EJAE? That’s pretty shocking.

The film One Battle After Another concluded the 2026 awards season with a Best Picture win. Michael B. Jordan and Jessie Buckley were recognized as the best actors of the year that night.

At the 98th Academy Awards, Michael Jordan, 39, surprised many by winning Best Actor for his role in ‘Sinners,’ while Buckley, 36, was named Best Actress for ‘Hamnet.’ The ceremony took place at the Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles.

As a huge fan, it was incredible to see Paul Thomas Anderson honored with the night’s biggest award! And it was even better knowing he shared the stage with Teyana Taylor and the entire team behind the film – they truly deserved the recognition, racking up a total of six wins, more than anyone else that evening.

The American black comedy action-thriller film beat out a large number of competitors, including titles like Bugonia, F1, Frankenstein, Hamnet, Marty Supreme, The Secret Agent, Sentimental Value, Sinners, and Train Dreams.

Led by Leonardo DiCaprio, the movie One Battle After Another follows a former group of revolutionaries who come together again when one of their own needs help rescuing his daughter. Their mission is complicated by the return of an old enemy after sixteen years.

Everyone is likely to be talking about Jordan winning Best Actor for his performance in Ryan Coogler’s film, Sinners. It was the highlight of the night.

Thirty-year-old Timothée Chalamet, known for his role in Marty Supreme, surprised many by winning, defeating established award contenders like Leonardo DiCaprio (One Battle After Another), Ethan Hawke (Blue Moon), and Wagner Moura (The Secret Agent).

Jordan couldn’t believe it as he walked onto the stage, where he was met by Adrien Brody, the previous year’s winner.

The story follows two brothers who move back to their hometown hoping for a fresh start, but they quickly realize a terrifying threat – vampires – is already there.

Jordan played both of the Moore brothers in the movie: the older, more serious Elijah, nicknamed ‘Smoke,’ and the younger, more lighthearted Elias, known as ‘Stack’.

Jessie Buckley continued her winning ways as she earned Best Actress for her role in Hamnet.

Irish actress, age 36, won the award, surpassing nominees Rose Byrne, Kate Hudson, Renate Reinsve, and Emma Stone.

Inspired by the novel of the same name, Hamnet tells the story of Agnes and William Shakespeare (played by Buckley and Paul Mescal) as they cope with the devastating loss of their son, Hamnet, to the plague in 16th-century England.

Agnes is a mother trying to cope with a terrible loss while also finding the energy to care for her children.

Paul Thomas Anderson’s film, One Battle After Another, was the night’s biggest success, winning awards for both Best Director and Best Adapted Screenplay.

Meanwhile, Sean Penn was not in attendance as he earned his third Oscar.

The celebrated 65-year-old actor won the Best Supporting Actor award for his performance in One Battle After Another, but he wasn’t present to receive it. Kieran Culkin announced his name as the winner.

Amy Madigan took home the first award at the Oscars 2026 on Sunday night.

I was absolutely thrilled to see the 75-year-old actress finally get the recognition she deserves! She won Best Supporting Actress for her amazing performance in Zach Creggar’s spooky and captivating film, Weapons. It’s a truly fantastic role and I couldn’t be happier for her.

The category proved to be one of the night’s most competitive, with nominees including Elle Fanning and Inga Ibsdotter Lilleaas for ‘Sentimental Value,’ Wunmi Mosaku for ‘Sinners,’ and Teyana Taylor for ‘One Battle After Another’.

Ryan Coogler won his first Best Original Screenplay award for his film, Sinners.

A particularly heartwarming moment of the evening was Autumn Durald Arkapaw’s win for Best Cinematography for her work on Sinners.
