Jessie Buckley Wins 2026 Oscar for Best Actress

As the 98th Academy Awards nears its conclusion, the Best Actress award is about to be presented. This year’s nominees include several actresses receiving their first Oscar nomination: Jessie Buckley for her role in Hamnet, Rose Byrne for If I Had Legs I’d Kick You, and Renate Reinsve for Sentimental Value. Kate Hudson is also hoping for her first Oscar, having been nominated for Song Sung Blue (this is her second nomination overall), and Emma Stone is up for her fifth acting award for her performance in Bugonia.

Emma Stone is the only 2026 nominee who has won an Oscar before, having previously won in 2017 for La La Land and most recently in 2024 for Poor Things. Among this year’s nominees, Jennifer Hudson and Saoirse Ronan are the only actors whose films aren’t nominated in any other categories. These talented women are now set to be honored at the awards ceremony, with one poised to make history.

Jessie Buckley won the Academy Award for Best Actress for her role in Chloé Zhao’s film, Hamnet. Considered the frontrunner, this is Buckley’s first Oscar win after receiving her first-ever nomination. In the movie, she powerfully portrays Agnes, the wife of William Shakespeare, as they navigate the joys and sorrows surrounding the life and death of their son, Hamnet.
