A source within the Australian media says it’s becoming clear what will happen to radio personality Kyle Sandilands as his two-week suspension from “The Kyle and Jackie O Show” nears its end.
Entertainment reporter Peter Ford announced on Channel Seven’s Sunrise program Monday that Kyle Sandilands, 54, is expected to be let go from his contract with ARN on Tuesday.
Ford explained that it’s unclear how he’s supposed to fix the problem. He’ll also claim he was prevented from fixing it because he and Jackie were both instructed not to communicate with each other.
Tomorrow at 5pm is the final deadline. After that, we’ll have to move forward with our plan. Today is our last opportunity to find a peaceful solution.
He said his contacts at ARN told him Sandilands wouldn’t be getting his job back.
According to my sources at ARN, the person in question won’t be getting their job back – they’re being terminated, plain and simple, I was told.
Ford suggested Sandilands probably anticipated this result and was already preparing for the public announcement.
According to sources, Kyle anticipates this outcome and is prepared to announce he’s competing with ARN. He has a press release scheduled for 5pm tomorrow, contingent on ARN’s announcement, and is seeking the entire $88 million of his agreed-upon payment.
‘It’s going to be a contract dispute like we have never seen in Australia before.’
Ford concluded by stating that Jackie O’ Henderson misstepped when she publicly announced she ‘couldn’t work with Kyle Sandilands’ anymore, and that she should have explained her statement more clearly.
He explained that the initial message should have simply stated she was unable to work with Kyle at the moment, which would have opened the door to finding a solution. However, the message was interpreted as a request to be released from the contract entirely.
Sandilands’ job at The Kyle and Jackie O Show is uncertain, and he had a noteworthy meeting this past Saturday.
The 54-year-old had a meeting with Stu Laundy. Stu’s father, Arthur Laundy, a billionaire, recently purchased Nine Entertainment’s radio stations, which include 2GB in Sydney, 3AW in Melbourne, 4BC in Brisbane, and 6PR in Perth.
The meeting, held at Sandilands’ offices in McMahons Point, became even more interesting when the radio personality arrived with his manager, Bruno Bouchet.
Okay, so I’m hearing some buzz around Kyle Sandilands potentially looking at radio opportunities beyond his current network, ARN. It seems like that recent meeting has people wondering if he might be exploring other options down the line.
Nine Entertainment sold its radio stations to billionaire pub baron Arthur Laundy back in January.
Arthur is one of the country’s richest men with a fortune estimated to be worth $1.75billion.
Last month, ARN ended Jackie ‘O’ Henderson’s $100 million contract. This happened after she informed company leaders she could no longer work with Kyle Sandilands, following his critical on-air remarks that upset her greatly.
ARN has officially notified Kyle Sandilands that they believe his actions on air on February 20th were a serious violation of their agreement with Quasar Media, and consider it misconduct.
Sandilands has been temporarily suspended and has 14 days to fix the issue that led to the suspension. If he doesn’t, he could be fired.
