Bill Pullman’s son Lewis weighs in on nepo baby criticism as he opens up about actor father at 2026 Oscars

Lewis Pullman, son of actor Bill Pullman, recently discussed the label ‘nepo baby’ while at the 2026 Oscars on Sunday. He talked about what it’s like to be known as someone who benefits from family connections in the entertainment industry.

Lewis, age 33, spoke with Variety about the topic of nepotism. His father is a well-known actor, famous for his roles in movies like Independence Day and While You Were Sleeping.

The 33-year-old actor was asked if he thinks nepotism helps and he answered with a resounding yes.

‘How could you not? I think it’s undeniable…’ began the boyfriend of model Kaia Gerber.

The 24-year-old woman, known for her brown hair and striking looks, comes from a famous family – her mother is the iconic supermodel Cindy Crawford.

And Pullman admitted his dad has helped him.

The actor shared that someone has been incredibly helpful to them, especially as a fantastic and supportive parent – to both them and their mother.

Many people are discouraged by their parents when pursuing ambitious goals, but I was fortunate to have their support, which made all the difference.

Jake Pullman is famous for his work in films like Top Gun: Maverick (2022) and Lessons in Chemistry (2023), as well as for playing Bob Reynolds/Sentry in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Bill Pullman’s son, who followed in his parents’ creative footsteps, is known for portraying characters who seem ordinary at first, but have hidden depths.

He attended Wildwood School in Los Angeles for high school.

In 2015, Pullman graduated from Warren Wilson College in Swannanoa, North Carolina.

Pullman began his acting career with several short films, starting with The Tutor in 2013.

Eleven years after college, filmmakers Jonathan Dayton and Valerie Faris invited him to try out for a role in the TV show Highston, which was being created by Sacha Baron Cohen.

Pullman landed the lead role as a 19-year-old whose imaginary friends were real-life celebrities.

However, it was canceled after only one episode.

In 2017, Pullman began his career as a film actor in the Western movie The Ballad of Lefty Brown, which also featured his father.

He then starred with Arnold Schwarzenegger in Aftermath.

In 2018, Pullman appeared in the horror film The Strangers: Prey at Night. He also acted with Jeff Bridges and Dakota Johnson in Bad Times at the El Royale that year.

Let me tell you, 2019 was a really exciting year for me professionally! I had a blast playing Major Major Major Major in the miniseries Catch-22. Following that, I was fortunate enough to be part of some fantastic independent films – Them That Follow was a particularly memorable experience, and I also loved working on Pink Skies Ahead. It was a creatively fulfilling time, for sure!

I was so thrilled to see Josh Pullman as Rhett Abbott in ‘Outer Range’ last year! And then, to see him pop up as Lieutenant Bob Floyd in the new ‘Top Gun: Maverick’ alongside Tom Cruise? Amazing! He’s quickly becoming one of my favorite actors.

In 2023, Pullman appeared in three notable roles: as a youth pastor in The Starling Girl, as the president of a fraternity in The Line, and in a significant part within William Friedkin’s last film, The Caine Mutiny Court-Martial.

He also starred in Lessons in Chemistry.

In 2024, he appeared in the movie version of Stephen King’s classic novel, Salem’s Lot, and then starred in Thunderbolts. This year, he’s also part of the cast of Avengers: Doomsday.

From September 2020 until sometime before August 2023, Pullman dated singer and actress Rainey Qualley.

As of January 2025, Pullman is dating model Kaia Gerber.
