Maya Jama, 31, shares sweet Mother’s Day tribute to her lookalike mum Sadie, 51, in slew of snaps showcasing her age-defying looks

As a lifestyle enthusiast, I always love seeing heartfelt Mother’s Day celebrations! Maya Jama really warmed my heart today by sharing some adorable photos with her mum, Sadie – they seriously look like twins! She talked about how much she’s inherited from her mum, and it’s just so lovely to see that special bond celebrated.

Love Island host Maya Jama, 31, has often surprised her followers by posting photos with her mother, 51, online. People have commented on how young she looks and how much mother and daughter resemble each other.

On Sunday, Maya posted a photo on Instagram from last year’s Mother’s Day. The picture shows her and her mother looking remarkably alike, both wearing similar clip-in bangs and holding hands.

As a lifestyle expert, I always notice when celebrities collaborate and look fantastic doing it! Recently, I was really impressed seeing Sadie and her partner in a campaign for her Beauty Works hair extensions. Sadie looked absolutely radiant – her skin was glowing and smooth, and she wore a stunning white strapless dress. It’s a testament to feeling confident and taking care of yourself, and she definitely nailed it!

Maya shared a photo with a ‘Happy Mother’s Day twin!’ caption, and then followed it up with a silly, less posed picture of them making faces at the camera.

The presenter explained that Sadie and her grandfather were the source of her playful personality, jokingly writing, ‘My sense of fun comes from you both!’

She also posted a cute picture from her childhood, showing Sadie holding a young Maya at Glastonbury. She joked that it ‘made her a festival and music lover from an early age’.

Maya has previously shared that she has a very strong bond with her mother, who was only 18 years old when Maya was born.

Sadie chose the name Maya to honor Maya Angelou, the celebrated poet. She had been deeply moved by Angelou’s autobiography, I Know Why The Caged Bird Sings, while she was pregnant.

The TV personality has shared that her relationship with Sadie is unique because of their relatively small age difference. She explains that she gave Sadie a lot of independence while she was growing up.

She previously shared with the Evening Standard that her mother had her when she was 18, which made their relationship unique. She felt she didn’t need to rebel as much because she already felt quite independent.

My mum has always encouraged me to live my own life and learn from my experiences, as long as I’m open and honest with her. She’s always said she won’t judge or get angry, no matter what.

She also revealed her mother can be quite rebellious, but jokingly added that her mother isn’t allowed at her parties because she tends to overindulge in alcohol.

I’ve always admired Maya’s honesty, and she’s shared before how difficult her childhood was. Her dad, Hussein, struggled with being in and out of jail, starting when she was just a little girl – only two years old – and her brother Omar was still a baby. It’s incredibly brave of her to talk about that.

In an interview with Marie Claire, she explained that she didn’t dwell on the sadness of growing up without her father. She didn’t spend her time feeling sorry for herself about it.

Maya shared that her father was frequently in and out of prison throughout her childhood, and she used humor as a way to get through those tough times.

I cope with difficult things by making jokes about them,” she explained. “It’s my way of dealing with it – I’ve come to terms with what’s happened and I don’t want anyone to pity me.

You know, growing up, I always handled questions about my dad with a bit of dark humor. If anyone asked where he was, I’d casually say he was in jail and then just…laugh it off. It wasn’t something I dwelled on or let get me down; I didn’t spend time feeling sorry for myself about it. I just kind of…moved on.

Maya shared that she’s very close to her stepfather and appreciates having witnessed the loving relationship between him and Sadie.

I was ten years old when my mom met my stepdad, and he’s a wonderful person. Being able to witness their loving relationship was really important to me. I think growing up without a father can be difficult because it means not seeing what a healthy, loving relationship looks like firsthand.

‘Dad wasn’t around, but I had all the love I needed from elsewhere.’
