The Requiem gun in Resident Evil Requiem is incredibly powerful and helpful in most situations. However, a new mod is changing how it works, making it more realistic for one of the game’s characters, Grace. Leon is skilled with weapons, but Grace is smaller and less experienced in combat. The mod makes the Requiem feel like a powerful, unwieldy weapon – almost like a bazooka – when she tries to use it, reflecting her lack of training and physical strength.

A new mod by Nexus Mods user Veoxys0910 adds a funny twist: firing Grace’s Requiem pistol now damages the player. While the Requiem was previously a reliable backup weapon, players can now use this mod to make the game more challenging by effectively weakening the gun.

When players use the Requiem weapon with Grace for the first time, she has a special animation showing her reaction to its powerful recoil – she shakes her wrist and winces. This animation inspired a mod that causes Grace to take physical damage whenever she fires the Requiem, reflecting the idea that the weapon is very hard on her body.

The mod causes the player to take a small amount of damage – 16.67% of their maximum health – each time they fire the Requiem. This seems fair, as firing such a powerful weapon would likely cause some pain. The damage isn’t excessive unless the player is already injured, such as after being bitten by a zombie in Resident Evil Requiem.

Grace Has A Lot At Her Disposal, Thankfully

In Resident Evil Requiem, the Requiem handgun is incredibly powerful. This special weapon easily destroys enemies, even those behind your target. Players often notice a significant difference in combat effectiveness when switching back to Leon S. Kennedy after becoming accustomed to the Requiem’s strength while playing as Grace Ashcroft in the Rhodes Hill Chronic Care Center.

If players aren’t focused on lockpicking for supplies and making special ammo, they’ll probably realize Grace has many useful items Leon doesn’t. For example, she eventually learns to craft Molotov cocktails and acid bottles, making her part of the story in Resident Evil Requiem much easier, especially after she’s already used the Requiem against Leon before arriving in Raccoon City.
