Hey, so I just found out that Mothering Sunday, that really good British movie from 2021 with Olivia Colman, is totally free to watch right now on Channel 4’s streaming service! It’s based on a book, and it’s actually the first English-language film by this French director, Eva Husson, who’s supposed to be amazing.
Olivia Colman acts with Colin Firth, Josh O’Connor from The Crown, Odessa Young (known for The Staircase), and the celebrated Glenda Jackson, in what would be her first movie role in over three decades.
Mothering Sunday tells the story of Jane Fairchild, a maid who has a secret love affair with Paul Sheringham, the son of a neighboring family. The film focuses on a single, pivotal day in 1924 – Mothering Sunday – and how that final meeting shapes Jane’s future and her ambitions.

On Rotten Tomatoes the film has a certified Fresh rating of 77% out of 137 critics’ reviews.
According to the Los Angeles Times, the film is beautifully made, features strong acting, and captures the bittersweet feeling of losing a special place shared with someone you love.
