Rosamund Pike has jokingly called her 2005 sci-fi movie, Doom, “one of the worst films ever made.” The movie, based on the well-known video game created by id Software, features Pike alongside Dwayne Johnson and Karl Urban as members of a team of space marines.

In a recent appearance on the podcast How to Fail With Elizabeth Day, Rosamund Pike revealed she worried the film directed by Andrzej Bartkowiak might derail her acting career.
While I was happily filming Pride and Prejudice – enjoying myself in costume and on location – I received an offer to join an action movie series,” Pike shared.
She explained that a movie adaptation of the video game Doom is being made. She jokingly thought to herself that if she could confidently climb onto a hay bale in a historical dress, she could definitely take on the role of fighting zombies on Mars.

Pike reported that Ray Winstone was originally cast in the film, but Dwayne Johnson ultimately took over the role, though the exact reason for the change isn’t clear.

Pike described Johnson as being surrounded by a very masculine group of people on set. He noted the presence of weights and explained that whenever a prop gun appeared, it was treated with reverence by fans of the Doom video game. Pike felt he didn’t fit in, saying he was uncomfortable and inexperienced compared to everyone else.
The movie Doom didn’t do well when it came out, both with audiences and critics. It currently has a very low score of 18% on Rotten Tomatoes, based on 133 reviews.
Rosamund Pike described the film as a complete disaster, joking that it almost ended her career. She felt it was one of the worst movies ever made – a total catastrophe – and expressed relief that she’d come through it relatively unscathed.
