Netflix is renewing The Lincoln Lawyer for another season, just over a month after the release of its fourth season.
Ted Humphrey, the creator and co-showrunner, announced on March 12th that filming for the fifth season has begun in Los Angeles. He also hinted that the new season will be available soon. While Netflix hasn’t announced a specific release date, it’s expected to premiere sometime next year.
The Lincoln Lawyer Season 5 Is in Production
As a big fan, I’ve been loving this legal drama ever since it first came out in May 2022! It’s interesting because the show hasn’t followed the books in order. They actually started with the second book, The Brass Verdict, which was published in 2008. Season two, which came out in two parts last year, was based on The Fifth Witness from 2011. And just recently, season three adapted The Gods of Guilt – that one came out in 2013 – and premiered this year.
After a break in 2025, The Lincoln Lawyer came back with Season 4 on February 5th. This season was based on the sixth book in the series, The Law of Innocence. Before the new season aired, it was announced that Season 5 will be adapted from the seventh book, Resurrection Walk.
Manuel Ruiz, who plays Cisco on The Lincoln Lawyer, shared a photo on social media announcing that filming for Season 5 has begun. The image showed a slate with the show’s title, and his caption excitedly stated that the new season will be available on Netflix soon.
The show’s creator was already developing new episodes even before the renewal was officially announced, as the cast and crew resumed work quickly after. In late January, he shared his excitement about the upcoming season, set to premiere on February 5th, and confirmed they had already begun working on the next season.
Season 4 was Mickey Haller’s most difficult and emotionally resonant experience so far, and we’re excited to be renewing the show for a fifth season to continue his story!
Okay, so Season 3 left us all completely shocked with Mickey getting arrested for murder! Then, Season 4 was just wild – he had to defend himself in court. It was his toughest case yet, obviously, and honestly, it was so stressful to watch!
Season 5 is a fresh start for the show, as it will be the first time adapting two books back-to-back: Resurrection Walk immediately after The Law of Innocence. The season will have ten episodes in total.
The Lincoln Lawyer Has Been a Major Hit
This legal drama, which ran for four seasons, is highly praised by critics, currently boasting a 92% approval rating. The most recent two seasons have earned perfect scores, and viewers also generally enjoy the show, giving it an 84% approval rating.
The fourth season started strong with 9 million views and 75.9 million hours watched. Over its run of 40 episodes, it reached a total of 26.4 million views and 222.5 million hours viewed, remaining in the top 10 most-watched shows for four weeks straight, according to Nielsen data from the week of February 9th to 15th.
The show features Neve Campbell, Becki Newton, Jazz Raycole, and Angus Sampson. New cast members joining for Season 4 are Constance Zimmer, Kyle Richards, Scott Lawrence, and Jason O’Mara. Netflix hasn’t confirmed whether these actors will return for Season 5 yet.
The Lincoln Lawyer is streaming on Netflix.
