Lisa Rinna shared that a popular cosmetic procedure made her look ‘strange’ and caused her embarrassment at a recent red carpet event.
In her memoir, actress Jane Fonda, 62, revealed that a skincare professional encouraged her to try the injectable treatment SKINVIVE just before the 2024 Fashion Trust Awards in Beverly Hills. She details the experience in the book, titled You Better Believe I’m Gonna Talk About It.
I got Botox from an aesthetician who also recommended a new product called SKINVIVE. She said it would give my skin a natural glow without making it look puffy or overfilled.
I immediately said, “Go for it!” So she applied the product around my cheeks, not all over my face. But suddenly, my cheeks started swelling up, almost like a squirrel storing food, I told her. I’m not sure if I was having an allergic reaction or what.
On top of that, Rinna said that she’d recently had Botox injected into her jaw to help her TMJ.
She admitted that the combination of Botox weakening her jawline and SKINVIVE adding volume had given her an unnatural look.
Rinna said photographers took pictures of her puffy face when she was on the red carpet at the Fashion Trust Awards, and those photos quickly spread online.
‘Everybody put my picture up because my face did look different,’ she said.
‘Beauty influencers put up my before and after pictures and tore me apart,’ she added.
Rinna quickly visited her dermatologist to have the SKINVIVE treatment reversed, and her face returned to normal in just a few days. However, she said the entire experience was upsetting and emotionally difficult.
It was awful, honestly. People were just so cruel, and suddenly I was everywhere – all over TikTok, and every doctor’s website you can imagine. It felt completely overwhelming.
‘Oh my god. It was really humiliating because I knew that it looked terrible,’ she continued.
‘Fortunately, I’m an old battle axe at this point and I can take it.’
Even though Rinna didn’t have a good experience with SKINVIVE, her daughter, who is a model, loves it.
Earlier this year, Amelia Gray Hamlin told Variety she was getting SkinVive, a moisturizing injection—but clarified it’s not a filler.
The 24-year-old insisted that she’s never had filler, stating, ‘I’ve always had these lips.’
Even though she had one negative experience with injections, Rinna maintains that the majority of her cosmetic procedures have gone very well.
‘The best work is when no one can tell that you’ve had anything done,’ she stressed.
She went on to compliment the current trend in Hollywood for cosmetic surgery that leaves no visible signs of having been done.
Over the past few years, several famous celebrities in Los Angeles, like Pamela Anderson and Kris Jenner, have been getting minor cosmetic procedures.
Beverly Hills plastic surgeon Dr. Deepak Dugar, a board-certified expert, is at the forefront of a trend he calls ‘quiet-luxury beauty,’ which focuses on natural-looking results.
The biggest trend in aesthetics heading into 2026 is a move towards more subtle results. People are shifting away from obvious cosmetic procedures – things like overly plump lips, extreme Brazilian butt lifts, or anything that looks dramatically altered – and opting for a more natural appearance, according to a recent interview with the Daily Mail.
According to Dr. Dugar, known for his ‘Scarless Nose’ rhinoplasty, the current beauty trend among celebrities focuses on subtle enhancements – looking noticeably better, but still like themselves – rather than drastic transformations.
By 2026, the beauty ideal will be a natural, effortlessly elegant look – think healthy, rested skin that appears genetically good, rather than overly done with injections.
