Margo’s Got Money Troubles, but she doesn’t have trouble winning over critics.
The new Apple TV series, already receiving high praise on Rotten Tomatoes, is based on Rufi Thorpe’s 2024 novel of the same name. Created by David E. Kelley, the show, Margo’s Got Money Troubles, stars Elle Fanning as a young, pregnant woman who earns a living through OnlyFans. She gets guidance from her father (Nick Offerman), who used to be a professional wrestler.
Though it won’t be available on Apple TV until April 15th, Margo’s Got Money Troubles, starring Michelle Pfeiffer, Nicole Kidman, and Greg Kinnear, premiered at SXSW on March 12th. Now, based on reviews from the festival, Rotten Tomatoes has given the show a perfect 100% score. This score may change as more reviews come in, but currently, all critics love it!
Okay, so the reviews for Margo’s Got Money Troubles aren’t all perfect 10s – the highest scores seem to be around 8/10, 4/5, or a B+. A lot of reviewers are giving it a 7/10, which seems pretty standard. But honestly, everyone is raving about the cast! Especially Elle Fanning, who was just nominated for an Oscar – she’s getting a ton of praise.
The show currently has ten reviews, and it’s too early to tell if it will keep its perfect rating as the premiere date nears. However, it’s looking likely that it will soon be “Certified Fresh” by the review platform.
The film still has a good chance of becoming a critical hit. Even if its score drops slightly, it would match the 97% rating achieved by Michelle Pfeiffer’s 1987 film, The Fabulous Baker Boys, making it her highest-rated project ever.
Currently, Margo’s Got Money Troubles has a perfect 100% rating, making it the highest-rated film of Elle Fanning’s career. This beats out Sentimental Value, which received 96% and earned Fanning her first Oscar nomination, and is equal to the 100% scores achieved by seasons 2 and 3 of The Great.
As a critic, I’m really impressed with Margo’s Got Money Troubles. It’s given David E. Kelly a perfect score – something that only happened with seasons 3 and 4 of The Lincoln Lawyer! Even more exciting, it’s earned Nicole Kidman her highest Rotten Tomatoes score ever, across all her film and TV work. Now, the big question is whether audiences will agree with the critics, but this fantastic start definitely positions the show as a potential hit for Apple TV+.
