90s actress who starred in two classic comedies steps out in LA on rare outing… can you guess who it is?

90’s comedy enthusiasts were taken aback with surprise when one of their beloved supporting actors was spotted in Los Angeles on Monday.

At the age of 77, the actress appeared youthful while out doing her grocery shopping at the high-end Bristol Farms market located in West Hollywood.

She was a far cry from the bumbling high school teacher character she played in the famous 1995 coming-of-age comedy, as she wore plaid pants, a comfy cardigan, and bulky loafers instead.

Her relaxed demeanor stood out in stark contrast to the playful ensembles she donned as Kirstie Alley’s vivacious sidekick Rona, a character featured in the movies Look Who’s Talking (1989) and its sequel Look Who’s Talking Too.

Even so, long-term admirers swiftly identified her distinctive fiery red hair – the very same one she’s showcased since her Quantum Leap guest stint.

In 2020, Caplan celebrated the 25th anniversary of the movie “Clueless” where she portrayed Miss Toby Geist, the clueless teacher, by sharing heartfelt thoughts about the lasting appeal of the film and the warm affection she continues to receive from fans.

Speaking to the Today show, she admitted the lasting impact of her role continues to surprise her.

‘It astounds me to consider that anyone could be moved by me or like me so strongly,’ was what Caplan expressed back then.

Caplan attributed the movie’s triumph to its stellar cast, particularly highlighting Silverstone for her remarkable portrayal of Cher Horowitz, the film’s leading character.

She remarked that there wasn’t anyone on earth who could have embodied this role as perfectly as she did, given her extraordinary beauty, endearing innocence, kindness, and humor.

Additionally, she reminisced about the late Brittany Murphy, who portrayed Tai. Her charisma was particularly noticeable during the casting process.

Additionally, Caplan pondered over their decades-long partnership with filmmaker Amy Heckerling, who modeled the character of Miss Geist after one of her previous mentors from school.

She declared that the movie she both wrote and directed was simply outstanding, elevating each and every actor involved to unprecedented heights. Moreover, she is deeply admired by all.

Caplan was born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, on December 25, 1947. 

Although she’s most famously recognized for her portrayal of Miss Geist in Clueless, which she also produced for its TV adaptation on ABC, her acting career stretches over several decades in both film and television industries.

During her role as Alley’s best friend Rona in the movies Look Who’s Talking and its follow-up, Look Who’s Talking Too, Caplan chose not to participate in the second sequel, Look Who’s Talking Now (1993).

She also appeared in the cult TV series Fast Times.

In Frasier, she played the fall-back fiance of Donny Douglas.
