’90s actress calls on Perez Hilton to ‘make amends’ to those he hurt after he almost died in the hospital

He shared what caused the illness that landed him in the hospital and made him lose a lot of weight this week.

Perez Hilton faced criticism after recovering from an illness, when a well-known actor from a 1990s TV show publicly challenged him about his previous negative remarks concerning female celebrities.

Kristen Johnston, famous for her role on the TV show 3rd Rock From The Sun, said on Threads that Paris Hilton should apologize to women reportedly harmed by her ex-boyfriend’s controversial blog, which often featured harsh gossip. Us Weekly reported on her comments, which have since been removed from Threads.

The Daily Mail has reached out to Hilton for comment.

The 58-year-old actress shared on Wednesday that years of opioid abuse severely damaged her digestive system – a struggle she detailed in her book, ‘GUTS.’ She explained that getting clean was a long process, both mentally and physically, and for about a year, she was severely underweight, constantly nauseous, and could barely eat. She described the experience as awful.

Okay, so Paris basically wrote the meanest things about me, specifically about my weight and how I looked. It was awful! And then, all her fans just jumped on the bandwagon and started attacking me online, which was seriously the worst thing ever. I was so hurt and it felt like everyone was piling on. It really messed me up at the time.

Johnston said finding out Paris Hilton had been ill and had turned to religion brought back difficult memories of reading Hilton’s online writings from years before.

She offered a small gesture of goodwill, briefly mentioning Hilton’s recovery with a message saying, ‘Glad to hear he’s doing better and I hope he gets well soon.’

She also stated she would never forget how easily and constantly he targeted women and young girls in the 2000s, and how awful it felt to be ridiculed by him when she was going through a very difficult period in her life.

Johnston expressed hope that if Hilton had genuinely changed, his transformation would be evident through his actions, and that he would work to repair the harm he had caused.

‘I know he hurt a lot of people,’ Johnston wrote.

He started his story by saying that a foolish mistake led to a 21-day hospital stay. Despite the hardship, he surprisingly described it as both the worst and best experience of his life.

Hilton said he had the flu for a week and took his medication, but did not take it with food.

Okay, let me share something personal. I recently learned a really tough lesson about taking care of myself. For about a week, I was taking medication on an empty stomach, and it unfortunately led to a series of health issues. First an ulcer developed, then a perforation, and ultimately, I ended up with sepsis. Sepsis is incredibly dangerous – it’s actually life-threatening, and people do die from it. This whole experience was a huge wake-up call to always prioritize taking medications with food and to listen to my body!

He experienced severe stomach pain and was unable to walk, requiring an ambulance to take him to the emergency room.

Hilton expressed his gratitude to Southern Hills Hospital for their care. He explained that doctors used ultrasounds to try and diagnose his issue, and after five days, he ultimately needed laparoscopic surgery.

I was so worried when I heard how sick he was. It wasn’t just a simple illness; he had a really serious infection, and fluid built up in his lungs, requiring another big operation. And then, unfortunately, things got even more complicated when he started having heart problems. It was a really scary time.

However, the surgery wasn’t straightforward. He developed a hospital-acquired infection, which he explained is a fairly common occurrence.

The actor became emotional multiple times while explaining that he experienced several falls and injuries after beginning to eat again following a period of being fed through a tube.

Honestly, seeing him go through that was just awful. They had to put in a tube to drain the infection, and he also had a catheter. He said it was a really tough time, and he ended up losing a lot of weight. It was scary to watch, but he’s such a fighter.

Back home, I’m not feeling completely myself,” he said, pointing to a line entering his arm. “It’s a frightening IV with two connections—one of which goes directly to my heart.”

Before sharing his story, he explained that he had a profound experience, feeling God’s presence in a way he described as miraculous and undeniably real. He said he was raised Catholic but hadn’t truly believed until now, and he’s deeply thankful for what happened.

According to Hilton, this spiritual experience has inspired him to bring his children to church and send them to a Catholic school.

The actor shared stories about his childhood in Cuba and revealed he hadn’t come out to his father before he passed away. He became emotional while describing his father as the most important person in his life.

While recovering in the hospital, Hilton passed the time watching TV. He talked about several things he saw, including news about Britney Spears’ arrest, a report about Chuck Norris’ death, and a video of Taylor Frankie Paul that he described as upsetting.

He ended with, ‘I am back and I send you all love.’

The celebrity, famous for starting his gossip blog in 2004, recently shared with fans that he was hospitalized for an unexplained illness and looked unwell.

The pictures depict Hilton in a hospital gown with visible scars on his abdomen, a tube inserted into his nose, and an oxygen mask covering his face.
