9 Heartbreaking FBI Character Exits That Left Fans Outraged!
Over time, several characters from both FBI: Most Wanted and FBI: International experienced underwhelming conclusions. Notably, these shows were among the productions that CBS decided to terminate in 2025. Despite maintaining popularity until their final episodes, the series had been affected by a series of cast changes, which slightly diminished their initial quality.
Most Wanted wrapped up each character’s storyline nicely, providing satisfactory endings as the show came to an end, but earlier seasons had some unsatisfying conclusions. On the other hand, the series finale of FBI: International left many questions unanswered, and as a result, several characters from the final episode did not receive fitting conclusions.
9. Cameron Vo
Vinessa Vidotto
In the FBI universe, Vo’s departure was one of the most disheartening conclusions. Throughout FBI: International season 4, a fierce competition between Vo and Raines for a GS-14 position unfolded, but the series finale failed to unveil who secured this role. Instead, the episode abruptly ended during their final scene, leaving viewers in suspense about whether they would find out who got the job.
This ongoing disappointment hit particularly hard for Vo, who has consistently been a dedicated member of the Fly Team since the series started. Notably, she played a significant role in season 4, assisting Mitchell (Jesse Lee Soffer) as he navigated his new professional responsibilities.
It was commonly believed that the finale of the show FBI: International might depict Vo assuming command of the Fly Team. Regrettably, the series didn’t clarify if she earned her GS-14 position, leaving us unsure whether this hoped-for conclusion actually transpired.
8. Andre Raines
Carter Redwood
It’s preposterous that the outcomes of Raines and Vo, who were founding members of the Fly Team, are left unresolved, allowing the audience to speculate.
Regardless of whether Raines continued with the Fly Team in his existing role or not, it would have been fair to clarify this point. What’s more frustrating is that a character who has been with us for several seasons didn’t get a proper conclusion to his narrative arc.
7. Scott Forrester
Luke Kleintank
Originally, The Fly Team was tightly bonded and fiercely loyal to Forrester. Regardless of the cause behind his departure, it would have been surprising. But what makes this situation particularly upsetting is that Forrester’s departure narrative seemed inconsistent with his usual character.
Despite being known for his composure and level-headedness, Forrester was reported as absent during a critical time, and it was discovered later that he was secretly aiding his runaway mother in her journey to the U.S. This sudden exit appeared disorganized and impromptu. What added to the confusion was the swift transition of the team, who warmly welcomed Mitchell almost immediately, despite their allegiance to Forrester, surprise at his disappearance, and initial shock.
6. Reiko Isokawa
Yoriko Haraguchi
In the final two episodes of FBI: International, Reiko made an appearance, which means she didn’t have a proper goodbye or concluding storyline since the show was terminated. However, it seems she was initially planned to be a significant character with promising development that was unfortunately curtailed by the series being canceled. Thus, her storyline didn’t receive the closure it should have had.
In Tokyo, Reiko, who hailed from Japan and served as a police officer, collaborated with Mitchell in pursuit of a notorious serial killer. However, her unconventional methods led to her dismissal from the Japanese police force for disregarding regulations. This turn of events surprisingly paved the way for her to be part of the Fly Team, but unfortunately, no one extended an invitation to her.
In the end, Reiko’s unwavering loyalty towards Mitchell and his endeavor goes unrewarded, leaving her without a job or a clear path for her future by the series finale. Although it isn’t as frustrating as other characters being left in an ambiguous state, it is aggravating that she experienced this outcome rather than being offered the opportunity to join Mitchell in Budapest.
5. Amanda Tate
Christina Wolfe
In the FBI series saga, Tate experienced one of the most unfair turns of events. Initially brought on board as an analyst, season 4 of FBI: International unexpectedly presented her with a subplot where she and Mitchell found themselves drawn to each other. Unfortunately, this romantic thread was abruptly abandoned just as swiftly as it had been introduced.
Tate appears to continue working for the Fly Team, yet her romantic tale remains unresolved. To put it another way, her love affair with Mitchell has fizzled out, and she’s mostly seen sidelined during the last episode while Mitchell pursues a serial killer in Tokyo.
Starting the relationship narrative without a conclusive end in FBI: International made little sense. Moreover, Tate’s professional plotline lacked depth to generate audience interest in her decision to remain with the Fly Team.
4. Hana Gibson
Keisha Castle-Hughes
One intriguing character from FBI: Most Wanted was Hana, a tech-savvy individual. Given that she had experienced kidnapping herself, she held an exceptional empathy for victims’ ordeals. Frequently, she collaborated closely with Barnes on their investigations.
Regrettably, towards the conclusion of the show, Hannah found herself drawn into one of the least captivating romantic entanglements. She encountered Ethan in the final episodes of FBI: Most Wanted season 5, and despite Ray endorsing him as an Air Marshal, he appeared shady to her. However, Hannah was unable to place her trust in him for reasons that remained unexplained.
In season 6, Hana’s plotline centered on her indecision about whether to stay with Ethan, which became tiresome and unsatisfying when she ultimately decided to move in with him at the end of the series finale. To add insult to injury, Hana playfully expressed her preference for Ethan’s dog over him, highlighting the many flaws in their relationship.
3. Jess LaCroix
Julian MacMahon
The death of character Jess in FBI: Most Wanted stirred up quite a bit of debate among viewers, given that he was one of the show’s most beloved characters. Known as the original leader of the Fugitive Task Force, Jess was admired for his efforts to juggle his professional duties and family responsibilities, particularly while raising a challenging pre-teen daughter named Tali. When MacMahon decided to part ways with FBI: Most Wanted, the series chose to write off the character of Jess.
Although his heroic demise made for an impactful episode, it was unfortunate and premature that Jess met his end, thus ruling out any future appearances as a guest star in subsequent episodes of FBI: Most Wanted. The sudden, tragic death at the hands of a criminal he was pursuing was one of the series’ most memorable moments, but it felt too final for the character’s story arc.
2. Kristin Gaines
Alexa Davalos
Kristin departed from the Fugitive Task Force prior to the start of FBI: Most Wanted’s fifth season. Although she had joined the show just two seasons earlier, her unexpected departure left fans taken aback, as it did not involve an on-screen exit. During the fourth season of FBI: Most Wanted, there was a sense that Kristin might take over from Jess, despite not holding a leadership position within the team.
She had a pre-teen girl as her child, and multiple plotlines centered around their relationship. Given the scarcity of family-oriented stories since Jess’ demise, it seemed fitting that she should have been given more dialogue to explain where she was when FBI: Most Wanted resumed for season 5.
1. Ivan Ortiz
Miguel Gomez
In the second season, Ortiz became part of the cast on “FBI: Most Wanted.” Compared to other characters, his background was particularly intriguing because he transitioned from being a member of the LAPD Gang Unit to joining the Fugitive Task Force. Regrettably, after just two seasons, he was reassigned back to Los Angeles with little ceremony.
As a movie buff, I must express my thoughts on the departure of Ortiz from “Most Wanted.” It seems that creative tensions between actor Miguel Gomez and the writers were at play, leading to his untimely exit. Although he received some form of farewell, it felt hurried. The narrative had him rushing off to Los Angeles to tend to his ailing father, which unfortunately marked one of the less satisfying departures in both “FBI: Most Wanted” and its spinoff, “FBI: International.
