80s heartthrob who starred opposite Sandra Bullock in panned sequel looks unrecognizable now

A popular actor from the 1980s, known for working with many famous celebrities, was barely recognizable when spotted in Los Angeles on Sunday.

The 59-year-old was seen spending time with his teenage son, Gus, over the weekend, and they visited a beach in Santa Monica.

The actor has changed his look! He’s traded his usual curly brown hair for a shorter cut, a graying beard, and glasses.

He comes from a lineage of famous actors but changed his stage name to avoid nepo baby accusations.

He became famous in 1987 when he appeared in the popular teen vampire movie, The Lost Boys, alongside Corey Haim and Kiefer Sutherland.

The movie made him a popular idol, and he went on to appear in prominent films such as the 1996 drama *Sleepers* and the 2002 thriller *Narc*.

He used to have a complicated personal life, famously becoming involved in a love triangle with Julia Roberts that caused a serious falling out with his close friend.

Can you guess who he is?

He’s Jason Patric!

Now 59 years old, he’s still acting and building an extensive body of work, but he’s most remembered for the roles that launched his career in the 1980s.

Born Jason Patric Miller, the actor came from a family steeped in acting, inheriting a natural talent and love for the craft.

His father, Jason Miller, was a celebrated playwright and actor. He’s most remembered for writing the Pulitzer and Tony Award-winning play, *That Championship Season*, and for his role as the priest in the movie *The Exorcist*.

Patric’s mother Linda Miller (née Gleason) is also a Tony-nominated actor.

His maternal grandfather was the legendary actor Jackie Gleason of The Honeymooners fame.

His brother Joshua Miller is also a famous actor and screenwriter.

Early in his career, Patric decided to use only his first name professionally, wanting to establish himself independently.

‘I want to make my ascent or demise as pure as possible,’ he previously told Rolling Stone in 1990.

He’s still acting, but now he’s also a single dad raising his teenage son, Gus.

He and his 15-year-old son, Gus, were seen attending church in Santa Monica, followed by a morning swim at the beach.

The father and son appeared to coordinate their outfits for their outing, both wearing matching short-sleeved polo shirts and blue joggers.

Patric wore transition lenses, and with his goatee turning white, the once strikingly handsome movie star showed the visible effects of aging, though he still maintained a neat and stylish appearance.

The actor was involved in a public and difficult legal dispute with his former partner, Danielle Schreiber, over the custody of embryos created through IVF, back in 2013 and 2014.

He eventually won full custody of Gus, who was only age four at the time.

Patric recently appeared in three episodes of Law & Order: Organized Crime’s fifth season. He played a detective in the Narcotics Division who used to work with Detective Elliot Stabler, played by Christopher Meloni.

Patric is well-known for his role in the 1980s film *The Lost Boys*, where he acted alongside Corey Haim, Cory Feldman, Jamie Hertz, and Kiefer Sutherland.

He’s also well-known for his performances in the films *Rush* (1991), *Geronimo: An American Legend* (1993), and *Sleepers* (1996).

He starred in Your Friends & Neighbors, The Losers and The Alamo.

He’s well-known for starring as the male lead opposite Sandra Bullock in the 1997 film *Speed 2: Cruise Control*, which wasn’t a commercial success.

He once found himself in a highly publicized love triangle with Julia Roberts in 1991. This also caused a falling out with his close friend and “The Lost Boys” co-star, Donald Sutherland, though they later made amends.

Years ago, Roberts famously eloped to Ireland with Patric on the very day Sutherland was expecting to marry her.

In 2011, the group came together again to perform a Broadway revival of *That Championship Season*, a play by the late Jason Miller – the father of one of the members – which originally won both a Pulitzer Prize and a Tony Award.

Patric remembered seeing him again, and they shared a few words, a laugh, and a toast.

You know, I’ve always believed people find their way. Both he and Julia have moved on and found happiness with other partners, which is wonderful to see. But through everything, the constant has been my friendship with Kiefer – we’ve been close buddies for over 35 years, and that’s something really special.
