’70’s film legend and Golden Globe nominee who began his career as a drummer looks unrecognisable as he announces US tour dates… can YOU guess who it is?

A 70’s film legend and Golden Globe nominee looks unrecognisable.

The actor gained fame by portraying Jesus in a legendary ’70s movie, which was based on a collection of rock concerts.

As a lifestyle enthusiast, I must say, his captivating performance left me breathless, earning him a double nomination at the prestigious Golden Globe Awards! He was recognized for not only his exceptional talent as Best Actor in a Musical or Comedy, but also for his promising debut as Most Promising Newcomer. Simply remarkable!

Initially, the musician gained fame as a drummer but later transformed into a renowned rockstar, and subsequently, he earned nominations for acting awards.

Originally, our rockstar made his mark as a drummer, then soared to stardom in the music world, and eventually ventured into acting, being recognized with award nominations.

This actor is well-known for sporting a thick, blonde bob and goatee, but he’s transformed his appearance with a slimmer hairstyle, round-framed spectacles, and a bushy mustache.

But can you guess who it is?

That’s right, it is Jesus Christ Superstar’s Ted Neeley.

On Instagram, Ted appeared noticeably different than his past glory, as he uploaded a video to announce his upcoming tour dates.

Accompanying the video, he wrote: “CHICAGO… I’m coming back one last time to Woodridge, Illinois, at the Hollywood Blvd Cinema, where I will introduce Jesus Christ Superstar on the big screen!

Ted’s birthdate is the 20th of September, 1943, in Ranger, Texas, United States. Since the 1st of May, 1981, he has been wed to Leeyan Granger. Together, they are parents to two children.

The performer and his group, The Teddy Neeley Five, recorded an album titled Teddy Neeley.

For several years, they were regulars on the club scene, and their name was prominently featured in the initial episode of Dragnet (1967).

Unfortunately for Ted, he was runner-up for the Best Actor award at the Golden Globes, with George Segal taking the trophy home for his role in A Touch of Class instead.

Additionally, Paul Le Mat, an actor from American Graffiti, won the Best Newcomer category, leaving him without the prize.

Despite leaving empty-handed on that particular night, Ted’s remarkable performance certainly left a lasting impression on the audience.

Over the years, Ted has frequently taken on the same character from the musical, and during the 1990s, he established a very successful touring business of his own.

More recently, Ted also embarked on a tour to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the film.

This event included watching a musical inspired by the Bible, followed by opportunities for a personal meeting with him later on.

He also had a small role in the Quentin Tarantino move Django Unchained.
