Autumn TV kicks off in September with several captivating new dramas added to the mix. This includes a suspenseful and intricate Prime Video series, as well as the long-awaited comeback of Michelle Keegan’s cherished sitcom Brassic, which happens to be its last appearance ever.

The Guest
Starting off the first day of September, we have the highly anticipated new thriller from BBC titled The Guest. This gripping tale has been labeled as an “irresistible, swift-moving story” that revolves around the “troubling and enchanting dynamic between a prosperous businesswoman named Fran and her employee, Ria.

The primary roles will be assumed by Eve Myles, known from the series “Broadchurch”, and Gabrielle Creevy, hailing from “Black Doves”. The narrative hints at Ria, a woman who’s never contemplated her desires in life. Upon cleaning for Fran, she is captivated by this self-assured and assertive woman who inspires Ria to seize control of her own life. As Ria finds success, a deep friendship emerges between them.
It has since come to light that a startling incident unfolds, which causes the lives of these two distinct women to be connected through mutual secrets and perilous schemes.

Task
The upcoming crime drama shares its origins with the critically acclaimed Mare of Easttown, in which Kate Winslet played detective Marianne “Mare” Sheehan.
In the upcoming series, Mark Ruffalo steps into the main investigative role, portraying a Philadelphia FBI agent assigned to head up a fresh task force.
The talented ensemble for this production includes Tom Pelphrey from “Ozark”, Alison Oliver from “Conversations with Friends”, Thuso Mbedu from “The Woman King”, and Fabien Frankel from “House of the Dragon. The series will make its debut in the United States on HBO on the 7th of September, and on Sky (with streaming available on NOW) in the UK on the 8th of September.

Wayward
Featuring Mae Martin, known for her roles in Taskmaster and Feel Good, Netflix’s latest thriller is being called a “compelling and genre-blending miniseries,” as reported by Tudum.
A police officer from a small town believes that the school in their town, which is meant for troublemakers, and the captivating leader running it, might not be entirely trustworthy.
Starting September 25th, you’ll find this captivating new drama on the streaming service, starring actresses like Toni Collette (known for her role in “Hereditary”), Sarah Gadon (familiar from “Castle Rock”) and Patrick J Adams (best recognized for his work in “Suits”).

Coldwater
ITV’s upcoming Scotland-based thriller titled “Coldwater” is set to debut on our screens on the 14th of September. The story revolves around a middle-aged man named John, who harbors anger beneath his role as a stay-at-home father and seeks a change in his life.
The synopsis hints that when John, in the aftermath of not intervening during a violent altercation at a playground, which intensified his identity crisis, he decides to relocate his family to the peaceful countryside haven of Coldwater, seeking maximum distance from London.
In this new production, Andrew Lincoln from The Walking Dead takes on the lead character named John. The ensemble also features Eve Myles, known for her role in The Crow Girl, and Indira Varma, who has acted in Doctor Who.

Brassic
Enthusiasts of the popular comedy-drama “Brassic” should prepare for a heartfelt departure in September, as the acclaimed show is set to conclude its run with an explosive sendoff.
Michelle Keegan is indeed set to resume her character Erin Croft in the series, with other familiar faces such as co-creator Joe Gilgun, Ryan Sampson, Aaron Heffernan, Parth Thakerar, Joanna Higson, Steve Evets, and Bhavna Limbachia also returning.
In simpler terms, Danny Brocklehurst, one of the creators and writers, previously stated that although the show, Brassic, is very successful, its co-creator Joe Gilgun and he had always planned to exit while the going was good, even though it’s hard to say goodbye. This statement was made following the announcement that the series would be coming to an end.

Slow Horses, season 5
The popular espionage show airing on Apple TV, focusing on a troupe of downgraded MI5 agents grappling with dysfunction, returns for its fifth season on the 24th of September. The premiere will feature two brand-new episodes, followed by weekly releases of additional episodes thereafter.
According to London Rules, the fifth novel in Mick Herron’s series, the synopsis for season five suggests that there’s suspicion among all when resident tech expert Roddy Ho acquires a glamorous new partner. However, as a string of peculiar incidents unfold throughout the city, it becomes the responsibility of the Slow Horses to unravel how everything is interconnected.

The Girlfriend
Featuring actress Olivia Cooke from the series “Slow Horses”, along with Robin Wright, “The Girlfriend” is labeled as an engrossing and complex psychological thriller that delves into the intricate relationship dynamics between a mother and her son’s new partner.
The story’s introduction suggests that Laura’s (Wright) idyllic existence will be shattered upon her son Daniel (Laurie Davidson)’s return, accompanied by his new girlfriend Cherry (Cooke), who sets off a series of unexpected events…
The new Prime Video original series, titled similarly to Michelle Frances’ novel, is set to premiere on September 10th.
