Apple TV+ is surprisingly good at maintaining quality, something many streaming services struggle with. It’s common for shows to have a strong start but decline in later seasons – you see it happen frequently on platforms like Netflix and HBO. But Apple TV+ has steadily created a collection of series that not only begin well, but consistently remain excellent.
This list highlights Apple TV’s original shows that have consistently delivered quality – not a single disappointing season among them. Each series maintains a strong narrative, raises the stakes, and features characters that become increasingly engaging. While some newer shows show potential, they haven’t had enough seasons yet for a full evaluation. Shows like The Studio and Pluribus, with only one season so far, need more time to prove their lasting quality. If they continue to be as good, they could easily join this list. As it stands, these seven series represent the best of Apple TV’s original programming.

‘Trying’ (2020 – Present)
4 Seasons

Apple TV+/BBC
Many TV shows about trying to have a baby are either overly sweet or deeply sad. Trying avoids both of those extremes and offers a more nuanced story. Created by Andy Wolton, who was adopted himself, the show follows Nikki (Esther Smith) and Jason (Rafe Spall), a couple in their thirties living in London who are struggling to get pregnant and decide to explore the complicated process of adoption.
The comedy series Trying, now in its fourth season, is consistently well-made. The latest season takes a creative leap forward, showing Nikki and Jason as parents six years later. Trying isn’t focused on achieving a specific goal; it’s a charming and realistic story about a couple navigating life’s ups and downs together. It’s rare for a comedy to receive such high praise, but both seasons 2 and 4 earned perfect 100% scores on Rotten Tomatoes, contributing to the show’s impressive overall score of 96%.

‘Slow Horses’ (2022 – Present)
5 Seasons
Don’t expect glamour, high-tech gear, or world-saving missions. Slow Horses is a spy show focused on the agents who messed up – the ones who made mistakes, caused embarrassment to MI5, and were relegated to Slough House, a rundown office near the Barbican. Adapted from Mick Herron’s popular novels by Will Smith for Apple TV, Slow Horses is a funny and surprisingly intense spy series.
Gary Oldman is compelling as Jackson Lamb, and Kristin Scott Thomas delivers a brilliantly cold performance as Diana Taverner. Jack Lowden provides a strong moral center as River Cartwright. What’s remarkable about Slow Horses is that it doesn’t lose steam – it actually improves with each season. Each season is based on a different book by Mick Herron, offering a fresh, self-contained story with increasing tension. With Season 6 already completed and a seventh season confirmed, the world of Slough House is set to continue for the foreseeable future.

‘Foundation’ (2021 – Present)
3 Seasons

Apple TV
For decades, Isaac Asimov’s Foundation novels were considered impossible to adapt into a film or TV series. The story covers a thousand years and focuses on the mathematical principles behind the fall of civilizations, following different generations of characters who don’t interact. However, Apple TV invested around $10 million per episode and entrusted the adaptation to David S. Goyer. Now, three seasons in, it’s clear the effort paid off.
Foundation stands out from most shows on television. The first season was complex and required viewers to stick with it, but it set the stage for a much-improved second season and a third season that everyone loved. Season 3 especially balanced its epic scale with moments of humor, thanks to Lee Pace’s memorable performance as Brother Day – fans even started calling him “Brother Dude” because of his relaxed vibe. Ultimately, Foundation is a show that consistently delivers unexpected twists and turns.

‘Shrinking’ (2023 – Present)
3 Seasons
Initially, Shrinking seems like a typical comedy: a therapist dealing with loss starts being brutally honest with patients, set against a sunny California backdrop with characters openly discussing their emotions. It’s perfectly enjoyable… until you realize it was created by Jason Segel, Brett Goldstein, and Bill Lawrence – the team behind hits like Ted Lasso, How I Met Your Mother, and Scrubs.
“Shrinking” is a show with real depth. Jimmy Laird, played by Jason Segel, isn’t just endearingly messy – he’s genuinely struggling, and the series treats his issues with respect. A highlight is the relationship between Segel and Harrison Ford, who plays Paul Rhoades, a therapist battling Parkinson’s. Season 3, which debuted in January 2026, added Jeff Daniels as Jimmy’s father. Throughout its three seasons, the show skillfully blends humor and heartfelt emotion, making it both enjoyable and impactful.
3
‘Silo’ (2023 – Present)
2 Seasons

Apple TV+
In the dystopian series Silo, humanity lives in a massive underground structure housing ten thousand people. Life within the silo is strictly controlled by mysterious rules, and curiosity is punished. The story follows Juliette Nichols (Rebecca Ferguson), an engineer who starts to uncover secrets. The show builds suspense through compelling characters and a chilling atmosphere.
The first season of Silo is incredibly easy to watch – it’s focused, keeps a good pace, and draws you in. However, it ends with a major cliffhanger! Thankfully, Season 2 proved the show wasn’t a one-hit wonder. Louise Griffin of Radio Times praised it as a perfect example of how to build on a strong first season, and many critics have called it one of the best sci-fi shows on TV, even comparing its captivating, ongoing story to Lost. With both Season 3 and 4 already confirmed, it’s clear Silo is in it for the long haul.
2
‘Severance’ (2022 – Present)
2 Seasons
Finding a good work-life balance is incredibly difficult. The show Severance explores a fascinating, and unsettling, idea: a medical procedure that completely divides an employee’s work life from their personal life. This creates two separate selves – the “innie” who only lives at work, and the “outie” who has no memory of their job. The series follows Mark Scout (played by Adam Scott) as he begins to question the unusual practices at his company, Lumon Industries.

Few shows capture the frustrations of today’s workplace as effectively as Severance. It uses science fiction elements – think bland office spaces, odd routines, and forced team-building – to create a disturbingly familiar picture of corporate life. The recently released second season, after a long wait, delves even deeper into a strange and emotionally powerful story. Critics have described it as mind-bending, while fans praise its emotional impact. The show boasts incredible performances from Adam Scott, Britt Lower, and Patricia Clarkson, and the new additions of Gwendoline Christie and Merritt Wever are particularly noteworthy.
1
‘Ted Lasso’ (2020 – Present)
3 Seasons

Apple TV
Here’s the basic idea behind Ted Lasso: an American football coach who knows nothing about soccer is brought in to coach a professional soccer team in England… by an owner who actually wants the team to lose. It sounds ridiculous, but over three seasons, the show became a surprisingly heartwarming story about the power of genuine kindness.
The first season of Ted Lasso broke records, becoming the most Emmy-nominated debut season for a comedy series ever. It then went on to win the Emmy for Outstanding Comedy Series for both its first and second seasons. Throughout its run, the show earned a total of 138 nominations and won 38 awards, many of which recognized the performances of its talented cast. The fourth season, arriving in summer 2026, will see Jason Sudeikis’ character, Ted Lasso, take on a new challenge: coaching a women’s soccer team in a lower league. This bold move fits perfectly with the show’s spirit.
