Stephen Merchant, known for his height, stood much taller than his girlfriend, Mircea Monroe, as they enjoyed John Cleese’s surprise birthday party on Wednesday.
The 50-year-old comedian looked joyful as he posed with Mircea, 43, while celebrating John’s 60th anniversary in the entertainment industry at the Mandarin Oriental in London.
Stephen looked sharp in a brown suit and black T-shirt, finishing the look with comfortable trainers.
Mircea looked beautiful in a sequin jacket, paired with a long dress and a shoulder bag.
Holding up a playful meerkat mask, she had swept her blonde hair back and was wearing black glasses that matched Stephen’s.
I’m always amazed by Paul Lieberstein, one of the writers from The Office. He’s a seriously tall guy – six foot seven! It’s kind of incredible when you consider his girlfriend, who he’s been with for seven years, is five foot six. He towers over her – we’re talking over a foot difference!
The couple celebrated with John’s close friends at a party thrown by his wife, Jennifer. The event honored the Monty Python star, who is 86 years old.
John took photos with Stephen and Mircea, who was wearing a navy suit with a polo shirt and a grey scarf.
The couple live in a £2.4million mansion once owned by former US talk show host Ellen DeGeneres.
Stephen and Mircea first met at an awards show seven years ago. Stephen had mentioned before that being tall sometimes made it difficult for him to find a partner.
He told Alan Carr: ‘If they’re down there and I’m up here, it’s a bit tricky.
By 2019, Stephen confessed he was happy to no longer feel a sense of emptiness, now that he’d met someone from St. Louis.
He admitted that, beyond her wonderful qualities, it was also a relief to not have to worry about finding someone to share his life with anymore.
‘That’s a very lonely life, the life of a single person’.
Stephen has recently surpassed the net worth of famous comedians like Ricky Gervais and Peter Kay, according to The Sun.
He’s now worth a remarkable £26.6 million, largely due to his recent role in the BBC comedy-drama, The Outlaws.
Photos from John’s party captured the heartwarming moment he was welcomed by his closest friends and family, including celebrities like Hugh Grant, Ronnie Wood, and Alison Steadman.
The party celebrated the release of John Cleese’s new documentary, John Cleese Packs It In, which offered viewers an intimate look into his life as he filmed his daily routines.
John Cleese is famous for being in Monty Python, both on television and in films. He also created and starred in the popular 1970s comedy series Fawlty Towers, for which he won a BAFTA award for his performance in 1980.
