Joely Richardson shared a sweet snap of her and her late sister Natasha Richardson.

On the occasion of her 60th birthday, which fell on January 9th, Joely shared a picture featuring herself and Natasha from their childhood days.

Natasha died on March 18, 2009 at age 45 after a ski accident that caused a head injury.

Joely wrote, “It was me and my sister Tasha. On my sixtieth birthday, people appeared dumbfounded that I seemed joyful. But why shouldn’t I be? After all, it’s not as if the age suddenly leaped from 25 to 60.

As a die-hard fan, I’ve lived every year and decade that passed by, eagerly waiting for this moment when I could delve deeper into uncovering more about her. You know, when they say “60 is the new 40”, well, I beg to differ! I’ve been saying that for two decades now. The actress herself recently expressed this thought, adding a touch of intrigue to my fandom.

Age may seem like just a number, but it’s really a sign of survival and resilience on life’s journey. Many don’t make it this far, so consider yourself lucky, #aren’tweall blessed.” (Tagging @twilighttrees)

Joely recently shared a photo showing her seated on a ledge adorned with candles and an illuminated Christmas tree.

The star’s childhood photo with Natasha showed the duo smiling for the camera.

Joely, who hails from Marylebone, England, turned 60 on January 9.

On March 16, 2009, Natasha experienced a head trauma during her skiing adventure at Mont Tremblant Resort, which is situated close to Montreal, Canada.

She was taking beginner ski lessons when she fell.

Initially, the actress declined medical attention, but due to the onset of a severe headache, she was transported via air to a hospital in New York City about two hours later. Unfortunately, she subsequently passed away as a result of an epidural hematoma.

Natasha was 45 at the time of the accident. 

She was wedded to actor Liam Neeson, with whom she has sons Micheál (age 29) and Daniel (age 28).

Joely and Natasha are the children of actress Dame Vanessa Redgrave and Tony Richarson.

In the previous year, Joely shared details about her final trip with her sister Natasha prior to her unfortunate demise in March 2009.

She uploaded a picture from their last vacation on her Instagram, accompanied by a heartfelt message reminiscing about that special moment.

She posed with Natasha and their mom Vanessa while on a boat in January 2009.

Yesterday, I stumbled upon this picture that brought a smile to my face. It features my mom, me, and my sister Tasha. We unexpectedly took a short trip in January, which turned out to be quite gloomy. My mom and I ended up at Gatwick’s south terminal, questioning what we were even doing there – however, looking back, we were incredibly grateful for the experience.

‘As a threesome (kids/spouses/friends), we seldom went on vacations – it was a special occasion. Tash, in her exceptional way, took care of all the planning and I enjoyed being the one celebrating my birthday. We embarked on a small boat trip for lunch on an island. Those few days turned out to be our final shared adventure. She expressed gratitude, saying we should make the most of each day.’
