'60 Minutes' denies Trump's accusation that Harris interview was deceptively edited

As a seasoned critic of media and politics, having witnessed the evolutions of both over the past few decades, I find myself intrigued by this latest tussle between Trump and CBS News, specifically “60 Minutes.

60 Minutes, the CBS news magazine, refuted accusations made by ex-President Trump that they manipulated an answer given by Vice President Kamala Harris during a recent interview, allegedly to improve her image for viewers.

60 Minutes broadcast an interview with the Democratic presidential candidate a day before it was shown in full, which had been originally scheduled for October 7th on “Face the Nation.” However, during the special edition of 60 Minutes, the response given to a question about the Biden administration’s approach towards the Israel-Gaza conflict differed from the one presented on the initial program.

In interviews and broadcasts on his preferred conservative networks, Donald Trump, the Republican’s presidential candidate, contends that CBS manipulated the response during their show to make Kamala Harris appear more favorably in public opinion.

On Sunday, X received this statement from the program: “What ’60 Minutes’ aired was not accurate,” it stated. ‘Face the Nation’ was given an extended clip of our interview by ’60 Minutes’, which utilized a larger section of her response to the same question compared to what was shown on ’60 Minutes.’

In the “60 Minutes” broadcast, the presented part was more concise, creating space to cover various topics within the extensive 21-minute segment.

Harris’ entire answer appears in a transcript on the CBS News website.

According to X’s statement, it was mentioned that Trump chose not to take part in the identical event. Previously, CBS News reported that he withdrew due to being informed his statements would be verified, a requirement his campaign objected to. Furthermore, Trump expressed dissatisfaction over “60 Minutes” labeling Hunter Biden’s laptop as Russian propaganda, a claim never made on the show and requested an apology for it.

60 Minutes has been conducting interviews with presidential candidates prior to elections ever since its debut in 1968.

Trump still has an open invitation to appear on the program before the Nov. 5 election.

Critics aligned with former President Trump, such as those on Fox News and other supportive networks, have raised similar concerns about misleading video edits.

As a film enthusiast, I’m sharing that I, myself, have announced my intention to file a lawsuit against the network, following a conversation with Dan Bongino on his podcast. Additionally, I’ve expressed my desire for CBS’ broadcast TV licenses to be revoked and for their program to be removed from airwaves.

During a Sunday interview on Fox News’ “Media Buzz,” Donald Trump rekindled his dispute. Howard Kurtz, the host, deemed CBS’ actions as questionable, but he clarified that the FCC has stated it would never revoke a TV station’s license due to a politician’s complaint regarding news coverage.
