6 theories we have about Stranger Things season 5 based on the episode titles

As a dedicated Stranger Things fan, having binge-watched every season countless times since its inception, I can confidently say that the episode titles of season 5 have only added fuel to my anticipation for the final installment. The Duffer Brothers have a knack for dropping tantalizing hints and clues that keep us on our toes, and the episode titles are no exception.

The specifics about Stranger Things season 5 and the details of its finale remain veiled in secrecy. It’s understandable that the creators, the Duffer Brothers, and Netflix are reluctant to disclose much since keeping the ending under wraps fuels our excitement as eager viewers!

The fact that there haven’t been major revelations doesn’t mean there haven’t been subtle hints or clues for us fans to speculate about. The latest piece of information is the title list for Stranger Things season 5! These titles may not give away much, but we might be able to connect some dots thanks to these titles and behind-the-scenes images shared by Ross Duffer on Instagram. Here are the episode titles:

  • Episode 1 – “The Crawl”
  • Episode 2 – “The Vanishing of [REDACTED]”
  • Episode 3 – “The Turnbow Trap”
  • Episode 4 – “Sorcerer”
  • Episode 5 – “Shock Jock”
  • Episode 6 – “Escape from Camazotz”
  • Episode 7 – “The Bridge”
  • Episode 8 – “The Rightside Up”

Looking at the information provided, it’s clear that the final season consists of eight episodes and is slated for release sometime in 2025. I sure hope Netflix doesn’t keep us waiting excessively! Despite the fact that filming is ongoing, production is nearing completion and will wrap up soon. However, considering our previous wait for Stranger Things season 4, we’re aware that the Duffer Brothers meticulously work on post-production to ensure all effects are polished to perfection, which may take some time.

What do the episode titles of the final season of Stranger Things tell us?

Alright, so let’s start to get some theories going here based on the Stranger Things season 5 episode titles. The very first episode could be referring to a crawl space maybe? It’s a good place to hide, and the characters definitely need to do so many times thanks to Vecna, Demogorogons, and all the other beings he controls.

The episode that has caught my attention is Season 5, Episode 2 titled “The Disappearance of [REDACTED]”. Netflix hasn’t disclosed the name yet, but it seems like they’re keeping a big secret. This title might sound familiar because it echoes the title of the premiere episode of our beloved series, “The Vanishing of Will Byers.” I can’t help but wonder who will vanish this time around. Oh dear!

In the third installment, titled “The Turnabow Trap”, we might encounter a land development and real estate company that could potentially debut in Season 5. It’s unclear at this point what role Turnabow will play, but it’s intriguing to note that Ross Duffer has posted a company poster on social media. Given the devastation at the end of Season 4, where Hawkins was invaded by the Upside Down and many buildings (and people) were destroyed, it’s plausible that this group is trying to encourage resettlement in Hawkins as many residents have left.

In Episode 4, the title “Sorcerer” might be a hint towards a character from Dungeons & Dragons, which the boys enjoy playing. This term is also used to describe how things in the alternative dimension called the Upside Down function. In the game, sorcerers possess inherent magical abilities, not ones that are taught. Maybe we’ll discover more about the origins of the Upside Down since it was present even before Vecna took control.

As a devoted fan, I can’t help but get excited about the fifth episode titled “Shock Jock.” This moniker refers to a charismatic radio personality who employs humor as a tool to captivate listeners. However, their content often crosses a line for certain sections of their audience due to its offensive nature. If you’ve been following Ross Duffer’s Instagram posts closely, you might have spotted numerous pictures featuring 94.5FM WSQK – a radio station that seems to hold significant importance in the final season. The station is present in multiple photos, and it’s clear that it will play a pivotal role. Take a closer look at the images outside the station, meet Steve (the radio host), and even check out the radio show’s truck!

In the end, the fifth season’s eighth episode, known as “Stranger Things,” serves as the series finale. It’s quite surreal to think about! Titled “The Rightside Up,” this suggests a reversal of The Upside Down, implying that our heroes might finally vanquish Vecna and permanently eliminate the threats posed by the Upside Down. Given all they’ve endured, it’s only fair that the Hawkins group finds tranquility someday. Here’s to hoping this becomes a reality.
