6 shows you absolutely need to watch in June – including a new BBC drama and a mystery thriller to stream
In June 2025, there’s an abundance of captivating television programs lined up for you! You’ll find fresh and returning BBC dramas, popular streaming series making their season return, and a heartfelt farewell to one of Netflix’s all-time hits. To make sure you don’t miss out on these exciting shows, we’ve put together a list of must-watch TV for this month.
What It Feels Like For A Girl
As a gamer diving into a captivating narrative, I find myself drawn to the freshly launched drama from BBC, which takes its roots from the critically acclaimed book penned by the esteemed author and journalist, Paris Lees. This gripping tale accompanies me on the transformative journey of a teen named Byron (Ellis Howard), as he delves deep into the quest for self-realization.
This story has been marketed as an unpredictable, rebellious take on a coming-of-age tale set during the Y2K era. The narrative unfolds with Byron fleeing to the vibrant underbelly of Nottingham, where his life suddenly erupts in a whirlwind. He then becomes a part of Lady Die’s riotous and disorderly group of misfits – The Fallen Divas, who are known for their humor and mischief.
What to Read Next
What It Feels Like For A Girl will be available on BBC Three and BBC iPlayer from Tuesday 3 June.
The Gold
preparations are underway for the eagerly-awaited comeback of this popular BBC series, picking up right where it ended during its first season’s finale.
The TV show starring Hugh Bonneville and Jack Lowden, set in the ’80s, is inspired by the events and hypotheses surrounding the Brink’s-Mat heist. This BBC series initially aired on BBC One in the beginning of 2023.
As a devoted fan, I can’t help but share my excitement about the acclaim that “The Gold” has received from both critics and viewers, maintaining an outstanding 92% rating on Rotten Tomatoes. However, it’s with a heavy heart that I have to say, the creators have confirmed that the second season will be the final one for this beloved series.
On the 8th of June, this coming Sunday, I’ll be tuning in to BBC One for the return of Gold Season 2! For those who can’t catch it live, don’t worry – it’ll also be streaming on BBC iPlayer. Can’t wait!
The Bear
The acclaimed series is set to resume for its fourth season towards the end of this month, and now, watching its FX/Disney premiere has become a significant annual event. Regardless of what opinions you may hold about the third episode, which received mixed feedback from critics, it remains among the top-tier programs on television.
Fans can look forward to seeing Carmy, Sydney, and Richie again at the tense restaurant The Bear in Chicago. However, the question remains: What lies ahead for the kitchen staff, as well as their individual, heartfelt stories?
In this new gaming season, it’s not only about honing my skills and improving, but also about determining what matters most amidst the journey.
The Bear season 4 will arrive as a boxset on Disney Plus in the UK on June 26.
Squid Game
Worldwide sensation, and continuing to hold a top spot among Netflix’s most-viewed series ever, “Squid Game” is returning for its third and concluding season on Netflix. We can expect some fresh, lethal challenges to unfold.
Gi-hun remains determined to dismantle the game, while The Front Man plans his next strategic move. As for the surviving players, their decisions will lead to increasingly severe repercussions with each new round.
How will Squid Game conclude? We’ll have to tune in to find out.
Squid Game season 3 will be available on Netflix on 27 June.
We Were Liars
This suspenseful story is adapted from the highly successful novel with the same title penned by E Lockhart. The narrative primarily revolves around Cadence Sinclair, portrayed by Emily Alyn Lind, who struggles to recall the events of a fateful summer following an enigmatic incident that irrevocably alters her life’s course.
The television series, penned and overseen by Julie Plec and Carina Adly MacKenzie of “The Originals,” is set to debut on Amazon Prime Video.
We Were Liars will stream on Prime Video on 18 June.
The Ultimatum: Queer Love
This month marks the official celebration of Pride, making it an ideal moment to immerse yourself once more in a captivating second season of true-to-life suspense and shock, as we welcome back the series “The Ultimatum: Love Beyond Boundaries.
The reality series presents various couples at a critical juncture in their relationships, often referred to as the ‘marry or part ways’ point. During the course of the show, these couples are given an opportunity to explore dating outside their current partnership. After this experience, they must make a decision: either staying together, pursuing a relationship with someone new they’ve encountered during the show, or choosing to end their partnership and become single again.
We believe that the debut season of the offshoot surpassed the initial series in our estimation, boasting a diverse ensemble of female and non-binary actors. Consequently, our anticipation is running high for the upcoming episodes.
The Ultimatum: Queer Love season 2 starts on Netflix on 25 June.
As a passionate fan, I’m thrilled to share that Digital Spy’s first print magazine, “British Comedy Legends,” is now available! You can grab a copy from your local newsagents or purchase it online for the amazing price of £3.99. Don’t miss out on this laughter-filled journey through British comedy history!
