6 good TV shows like Yellowstone to watch while you wait for season 5 part 2

As someone who has spent countless hours engrossed in the captivating world of western dramas, I wholeheartedly recommend these shows to anyone seeking a thrilling and engaging viewing experience. If you’re a fan of the Dutton family’s power struggles, then Succession (in my humbleat) Succession will surely tickle your fancy! The storyline is reminiscent of Yellowstone, but with a media conglomerate replacing the ranching empire.

The next installments of “Yellowstone” are almost here! The fifth season’s second part will debut on November 10, 2024. And guess what? A brand-new trailer for the show has been unveiled as well!

It’s been so long since the first half of Yellowstone season 5 ended on Jan. 1, 2023. Almost two years will have passed by the time all six episodes in season 5 part 2 air. And, unfortunately, you do have a fair bit of time until the show returns.

fortunate for you, we’ve found seven TV series similar to “Yellowstone” that you can enjoy until the release of season 5 part 2. We purposefully left out “1923 ” and “1883“, but don’t forget to catch up on those as well, since they are truly worth watching!

Tulsa King

It’s commonly observed among Yellowstone fans that they often appreciate the work of creator Taylor Sheridan. Excitingly, Sheridan has a number of television shows that you should definitely check out. Kicking off our list is Tulsa King, featuring Sylvester Stallone in the lead role. The cast includes Garrett Hedlund, Andrea Savage, Vincent Piazza, Martin Starr, and others for this series.

“Tne’s Prob, entitled ” Tulsafter-prison tale, “Tulsa King” revolves around Dwalt Manfredi, portrayed by Stallone, who is dispatched by his superior to set up a fresh crime network in the city of Tulsa, Oklahoma, following over two decades behind bars. Dwalt assembles a team, yet faces difficulties as he re-enters the world of organized crime after such a long absence.

There is one season of Tulsa King streaming on Paramount+ right now. The new season premieres on the streamer on Sept. 15 with new episodes dropping weekly. If you start watching now, you’ll be ready for the season 2 premiere.

Longmire

You may have had a chance to watch it already given that Longmire is an older show. Currently, you can stream the series on Netflix.

The TV show is adapted from “The Walt Longmire Mysteries” by Craig Johnson. It initially aired on A&E in 2012, lasting for three seasons before shifting to Netflix for its concluding six seasons. Robert Taylor and Katee Sackhoff are among the main cast members, alongside Lou Diamond Phillips, Adam Bartley, Cassidy Freeman, and Bailey Chase.

In the TV show, the character Sheriff Walt Longmire, portrayed by Taylor, works diligently to unravel mysteries and maintain tranquility in the remote landscapes of Wyoming.

Should you enjoy the series “Yellowstone,” I wholeheartedly recommend giving “Longmire” a try! Despite having only a tiny portion of Yellowstone’s budget, it’s remarkably well-made and worth watching.

The Sopranos

Yellowstone shares similarities with The Sopranos, if you imagine The Sopranos transposed to a remote location. This isn’t intended as a comparison of quality – Yellowstone doesn’t match up to The Sopranos in that regard – but rather, it’s a crime family drama set in an isolated area, and its storytelling seems to be influenced by one of the greatest TV series ever produced.

Originating from David Chase, The Sopranos features James Gandolfini portraying Tony Soprano, a contemporary mob figure navigating through his profession amidst the challenges of being a parent, maintaining a family, and all the accompanying responsibilities that come with it.

Lorraine Bracco, Edie Falco, Steven Van Zandt, Jamie-Lynn Sigler, Michael Imperioli, Dominic Chianese, Tony Sirico, among others, appear in the popular HBO television show.

Currently, I can’t help but feel thrilled as I’m immersed in the captivating world of “The Sopranos,” streaming live on MAX. If you’re a fellow admirer of shows like “Yellowstone,” I promise you won’t be disappointed. It shares the same raw intensity, yet offers an even more engaging experience.

Succession

Speaking of wildly entertaining HBO shows, Succession is up next on the list of shows to watch if you like Yellowstone. Succession was created by Jesse Armstrong and premiered on HBO in 2018 and ran for four seasons on the network.

If you enjoy watching the dynamic conflicts within the Dutton clan and their struggles with managing their business, then Succession might just be the series for you. This show follows the saga of the Roy family, who run a media conglomerate. As Logan (played by Brian Cox), the family patriarch and company owner, attempts to pass control to his offspring, events rarely unfold as expected.

The HBO show features Nicholas Braun, Jeremy Strong, Kieran Culkin, Sarah Snook, Peter Friedman, Natalie Gold, Matthew Macfadyen, Alan Ruck, among others as its stars.

One way to rephrase that statement could be: ” Succession is widely regarded as one of the top TV series from the past ten years. Currently, you can stream all four seasons on MAX.”

Ozark

Many people find that the show Ozark shares similarities with Breaking Bad, and this is true. However, it also seems to have some resemblance to Yellowstone as well!

Jason Bateman portrays Marty Bryde, a character who relocates his household to a quaint tourist locale in the Ozarks to assist a Mexican drug ring with money laundering. Initially, Marty’s family, which includes his wife, Wendy (played by Laura Linney), don’t embrace this plan wholeheartedly; however, they adapt and discover their bearings in the unfamiliar town.

The TV series known as “Ozark” debuted on Netflix in the year 2017, and it continued to air on Netflix for a total of four seasons. At this moment, you can stream all four full four seasons one can be entertained bylaunchangedarriving on Netflix is the show “Ozark” first appeared on Netflix in 2017 and has run for four seasons on the streaming platform up to the present day. Currently, all four seasons of the series are accessible for streaming on Netflix.

If you’re fond of Beth Dutton (played by Katherine Heigl) and Kelly Reilly, there’s a good chance you’ll be captivated by Ruth Langmore, portrayed by Julia Garner. She truly shines in this show!

Dark Winds

The crime thriller “Dark Winds” debuted on AMC in 2022, derived from Tony Hillerman’s book series, Leaphorn & Chee. This gripping series follows the investigations of Joe Leaphorn (Zahn McClarnon), Jim Chee (Kiowa Gordon), and Bernadette Manuelito (Jessica Matten) as they work with the Navajo Tribal Police to unravel a series of crimes and mysteries in a small town.

The show “Dark Winds” has been renewed for a second and third season on AMC. The second season debuted in the summer of 2023, however, fans will have to wait until next year to see the third season.

If you found yourself unable to catch this series during its run on AMC and haven’t subscribed to AMC+, consider yourself fortunate! The series titled “Dark Winds ” was recently added to Netflix in August of 2024 on Netflix.

Dark Winds” leans more towards the genre of thrillers compared to “Yellowstone“, yet it’s an excellent series that I wouldn’t miss out on. If I were you, I’d definitely watch it!
