52-Year-Old EastEnders Star Patsy Palmer’s Astonishing Beauty Confession

Patsy Palmer admits she’s had a change of heart about cosmetic procedures, having previously vowed against them due to a traumatic experience involving botched Botox that required hospitalization.

As a fervent admirer of my EastEnders past, I found myself in an unexpected predicament recently. A routine botox procedure turned awry, causing me to experience quite the panic and prompting a visit to the emergency room. This ordeal has made me swear off ever repeating such a procedure again.

In my case, that marked the end of my journey with Botox. At that moment, I found myself genuinely fearful about it.

Openly acknowledging her actions, Patsy has revealed that she has resumed working in the cosmetics field, despite her husband’s objections. She also shared her intention to undergo a facelift in the coming days.

She occasionally uses a small amount of Botox and has experimented with various methods. Once, she tried fillers, but she wasn’t fond of it. “I just get a bit of Botox,” she admits, “enough to keep my facial expressions, but I might need another round soon.

Since the year 2014, Patsy has been residing in Los Angeles alongside her spouse, Richard Merkell. Together they have two kids, Fenton and Emilia. Interestingly, Patsy also shares a son named Charley Palmer Rothwell with her former partner, Alfie Rothwell.

She acknowledged that attaining a natural appearance in the acting industry, particularly when it comes to cosmetic work, can be tricky. She expressed: “We aim for a natural look! I don’t want to appear as if I’ve been overloaded with makeup – I prefer a natural look, but achieving that balance is challenging.

On the “Not Getting Any Younger” podcast, prior to stepping into the Celebrity Big Brother house on Monday evening, Patsy emphasized that she does not fixate on her appearance.

I generally don’t place a lot of emphasis on my physical appearance, as I haven’t always felt confident about myself – you know, like some of our friends who were considered very attractive during our youth. I never viewed myself in that light.

In simpler terms, I was often the funny one or the girl who loved hanging out and laughing with my friends, even though I had a bit of a masculine side to me.

In my twenties, I began to pay a bit more attention and developed slightly greater concern for the way I looked.

However, I often had the sense that others were more beautiful than me, and I noticed they seemed very interested in makeup, discussing which products to purchase. On the other hand, makeup wasn’t something I ever felt particularly drawn towards.

I haven’t spent a lot of time or energy on it, as it’s not something I’ve identified strongly with – not being overly concerned about my appearance – I guess you could say it’s not a top priority for me.

I’d prefer a slight refreshment in my appearance when I gaze at myself in the mirror, not appearing overly tired. I want to seem more upright than slouched. That’s why I’m considering a minor facelift, focusing primarily on the neck area.

As we age, our neck may start to show signs of aging, which is a common occurrence and nothing to be concerned about. I find myself less inclined to discuss it because it’s such a normal part of growing older, and I believe you have every right to talk about these things without any judgment. It’s wonderful how we can openly discuss such matters nowadays!

Patsy shared that she opts for cosmetic procedures not because of societal or acting industry expectations, but purely for her own self-confidence. However, her husband disapproves of all the changes.

He isn’t fond of the appearance, it seems. I offer to make some minor adjustments, but he insists I don’t have to bother. It’s quite thoughtful of him too.

For the past 25 years, I’ve been happily married, so I don’t feel the need to win over anyone’s approval. Unlike some, I’m not navigating the dating scene – it seems much more stressful than the industry itself. Being single in this line of work has got to be tough.

In my perspective, living here in Los Angeles significantly boosts my joy and vitality. I can’t help but feel that the abundant sunshine acts as a powerful remedy. Frankly, I could never imagine residing somewhere where it grows dark at three in the afternoon again – it leaves me feeling drained. Instead, I thrive under the light.

I’ve discovered on my own what makes me a content individual. Essentially, it involves basking in sunlight, savoring delicious meals, and immersing myself in nature. Plus, I find happiness in making the most of every circumstance.

Due to my highly sensitive nature, even minor inconveniences can greatly affect me and leave me feeling distressed. Therefore, I find myself drawn towards positivity and good company. It’s important for me to remember that the world isn’t as grim as it may seem sometimes.

Instead of going for traditional Pilates, I’ve been focusing more on using the Cadillac reformer machine in Los Angeles. This equipment is packed with various attachments that offer a comprehensive workout, ultimately helping me achieve optimal flexibility.

I prefer to do activities individually since I have concerns about safety. Pilates is something I really enjoy, as it provides numerous internal benefits. Stretching is also crucial, which is why I prioritize it. I take pleasure in walking and love spending time in a sauna. Additionally, I have a cold plunge installed in my garden.

As a devoted partner, I suggested to my husband that we should install a bath in our garden, similar to a sturdy concrete one. Initially, the idea seemed intriguing, but truthfully, the thought of constantly refilling it has lost its appeal for me.

‘The food you consume accounts for about 80% of your diet, so I make an effort to eat healthily as much as possible. Eating well can be challenging in London due to the cold weather, which often leads to consumption of heavy, filling foods. In contrast, Los Angeles seems to favor smoothies and salads.’

Celebrity Big Brother begins on Monday at 9pm on ITV1 and ITVX.
