Starting a new TV show can be daunting if it has many seasons. Luckily, some shows are easy to jump into at almost any point, even if you haven’t seen earlier seasons. Many shows build on themes and characters across multiple seasons, so you won’t be completely lost.
Events from one season of a TV show often impact later seasons, so starting mid-way through can be confusing. However, some shows are more forgiving, and even within ongoing series, each season sometimes feels like a self-contained story you can easily jump into.
You don’t need to have watched previous seasons to enjoy these shows, though it can add to your experience. Each season (or even just an episode) tells a complete story, so you can easily jump in at any point without feeling lost.
Love, Death & Robots (2019-Present)
Love, Death & Robots is a Netflix animated series where each episode features a different story. While a few episodes connect, most stand alone. The show blends horror, science fiction, comedy, and other genres, but every story revolves around the themes of love, death, and robots.
You can enjoy each season of Love, Death & Robots as a complete experience. Though the episodes aren’t usually connected, the collection as a whole reflects the current cultural climate. Feel free to start with any episode and skip around to whatever catches your eye.
Star Wars: The Clone Wars (2008-2020)

The animated TV series Star Wars: The Clone Wars takes place between the films Star Wars: Episode II – Attack of the Clones and Star Wars: Episode III – Revenge of the Sith. The show mainly focuses on Anakin Skywalker and his apprentice, Ahsoka Tano, as they battle the Separatist Alliance.
The Clone Wars is among the strongest storytelling in all of the Star Wars content made after the original trilogy, and it’s great thing about it is that you can jump in at any season. While each season tells a connected story, you don’t need to know everything that happened before to enjoy it.
Black Mirror (2011-Present)
Charlie Brooker’s Black Mirror is a British series that explores thought-provoking, futuristic scenarios. Each episode takes place in a world very similar to our own, but with technology that has taken a dark and often disturbing turn, reflecting concerns we have about the real world today.
Starting with the very first episode of Black Mirror isn’t ideal. It’s quite shocking and might discourage you from continuing the show. A better approach is to pick an episode featuring an actor you like, watch that first, and then enjoy the rest of the season. You’ll be caught up in no time!
24 (2001-2014)

24 is a thrilling TV drama featuring Kiefer Sutherland as Jack Bauer, a Los Angeles-based counterterrorism agent. Each season unfolds like a single, intense day, with each episode covering one hour of real-time events. A season with 24 episodes means Bauer has just one 24-hour period to resolve a major terrorist threat.
There are nine seasons of 24, and the great thing is you can start with any one! Each season tells its own complete story, and if something from a previous season is mentioned, it’s usually explained. While episodes often end with suspenseful cliffhangers, each season has a satisfying conclusion.
The Pitt (2025-2026)
You don’t need to watch the first season of The Pitt to understand the second – they’re closely linked, but you can jump right in. The show follows Dr. Robby (Noah Wyle) and his team at the Pittsburgh Trauma Medical Center as they work tirelessly to save lives.
While some plot points continue from the first season, they’re explained briefly and aren’t hard to follow. Watching the second season of The Pitt actually makes the first season feel like an earlier installment, and it’s interesting to see how much the medical team has evolved in just a few months.
