5 things we love about Dota 2 patch 7.39 Ability Draft
You can now play mini-games while you queue Ability Draft in Dota 2?!
The latest Dota 2 update, version 7.39, is out now! While hero changes might be of interest to more serious rank players, Valve seems to be focusing on making the game more enjoyable for everyone. They’re emphasizing fun over competition, as shown by the introduction of the Crownfall event and now the reintroduction of a long-forgotten feature: Ability Draft mode!
In this gaming setting, participants can craft their characters by selecting unique skills from a variety of possibilities at random. However, due to previous updates and modifications in the maps, Ability Draft has become outdated. The heroes lack depth, and each minor tweak to the game introduces bugs within this mode.
Highlighting exciting updates in a friendly tone:
1. Fresh and Exciting Hero Pools: The variety of heroes you can draft has expanded, offering a fresh and dynamic experience each time you play!
2. Balanced Team Compositions: The latest update ensures that each team is well-balanced, providing a more competitive and enjoyable gameplay for all participants.
3. Enhanced Strategic Depth: The new Ability Draft system encourages strategic thinking by forcing players to adapt their strategies based on the heroes they draft, making each match a unique challenge!
4. Improved User Interface: A sleek and intuitive interface makes it easy for players to navigate and manage their hero picks, streamlining the drafting process.
5. Rewarding Progression System: The revamped progression system offers exciting rewards for dedicated players, keeping you engaged and motivated as you climb the ranks!
#1: The 7.39 patch added minigames while you queue for an Ability Draft game!
This is undeniably an unanticipated yet awesome feature for the game. However, extended wait times in queues might deter some gamers from experimenting with the AD mode.
However, everyone was fond of the mini-games in Crownfall! Now, with the new update, you’re free to replay these games repeatedly during waiting periods. Similar to before, you can challenge your friends for the top spot on the leaderboard.
#2: New combo opportunities!
After upgrading all the heroes, certain abilities in Ability Draft post-patch 7.39 have unexpectedly quirky interactions. These peculiarities make it even more intriguing when selecting your character (hero), as strategic choices become crucial.
Here, you can find two fun suggestions.
#3: Pick your facets
During the spell draft phase, you’ll not only pick your character but also receive additional facet cards at random for the entire game. Make sure to glance over these cards promptly as they provide a bonus for your hero during the strategy phase!
#4: Improved strategy phase interface
As you might say, “food is consumed through the eyes.” In the same vein, I want to bring your attention to some minor yet advantageous updates in our new strategy phase. The facet card display has been streamlined, and the reorganization of items into distinct categories simplifies decision-making significantly when playing Ability Draft with the 7.39 patch modifications.
#5: No more bugs (apparently) while playing Ability Draft after the patch 7.39
Valve has vowed to improve AD game mode by ensuring it won’t be affected by bugs in the future. Previously, concerns arose because the game mode didn’t receive regular updates whenever new patches were rolled out. In simpler terms, they’ve fine-tuned the backend systems to make future updates for the gameplay more seamless and resilient against Dota changes.
